So, we agree he has, since and including Porto:

1)Joined clubs where all the groundwork has already been done by others and the team were already up there competing for their leagues.

2)Been one of the biggest spenders in his domestic league to add to that existing competitiveness.

3)left before he had to do any rebuilding at any of his clubs.

Don't get me wrong he's smart, he's PR savvy, he obviously selects actual high standard backroom teams to do the work for him.

It makes him a very good General Manager ....in the American Baseball sense....and if people keep believing this crap he''ll get up there in trophies...but to talk of him in terms of the likes of our past greats or a modern great like Fergie who has built squad after squad???? Lol......

  2. Brian Clough had won more than most prior to being sacked at Forest, was he the best at that time too? <doh>

Edit: just realised that this is probably well before your time <whistle>

Look at their transfer profits in the last few years, you cannot doubt this clubs ability to consistently get players at low prices and sell for huge profit. You cannot doubt the figures. If it is so easy then why isn't everyone doing it?

  4. Didn't Mourinho buy Ferreira on both occasions too?

  5. WTF has the last few years got to do with 2002-2004? <doh>

I was talking about Porto being a well run club which you seem to doubt for some unknown reason

    1. So if other factors are involved then it is a judgement call and not a fact.
    2. Why will the best come out on top most of the time if those other factors are constantly against them?

    3. If I race lewis hamilton 100 times in my car against him in a reliant robin and I win the majority of races, does this make me a better driver?

    4. Will you ever get the point.

    Yes so what?

  10. He was one of the greatest but that was whilst he was winning things. Towards the end of his reign, he was one of the worst hence Forest getting relegated! Pretty much shoves your theory of records proving who the best existing manager is right up your backside doesn't it? :D

  11. Well run or not was never the point. Mourinho splashing the cash whilst there was <doh>

  12. So he clearly loved the player and then massively paid over the odds to take him with him to Chelsea! It ****s on the point you was trying to make despite it being irrelevant to the conversation <laugh>

You want me to explain why the best will come on top most of the time? really? I need to explain that? You don't already know why?
You guys need to think more.

You do understand that managers especially at Chelsea will not play a big role in negotiating a price for a player. Also Ferreira was considered one of the best right backs in the world at the times so it was not massively paying over the odds.

How is that a back track? we all know that managers don't win everything all the time.

  17. You do realise that this has nothing to do with the original point right?

Lol you somehow tried to argue that the fact that he was sold on to Mourinho for a big profit (ergo expensive) that this somehow negates the fact he was bought BY Mourinho, on each occasion as part of a relatively (focus on relativity) big kitty compared to the league rivals his team were competing with...

You used post Mourinho Porto success in the transfer market , (including money he threw at them) as some weird example of how he's NOT doing it with cash?????

You see why we find this a bizarre direction to take...? Clearly you don't....

Jose is a top manager (one of the best) but he's been one jammy b£stard regarding the sides he gets given and money he gets to spend.

He's also quite good at leaving /being sacked when his mistakes become apparent like at Inter and Chelsea the first time around.

He's led a charmed life. He's never been at a side that wasn't expected to win anyway. not really his fault but it raises questions about could he do it at a club where winning wasn't practically a foregone conclusion.

  20. Because in your previous comments you were stating them like facts and with certainty. Because you are finding your opinion questioned you have suddenly chucked in a "most" #backtracking <laugh>
