Damn, I though we did. Anyway I actually agree with your main point that us not having European footy has been an advantage. I'm not concerned with it being a huge problem next season though and think we can handle both competitions.
4th highest spenders in last 10 years and average position in the league over that time ... 4/5th. Seems about right.
You agree with him . It's like saying "If your aunt had balls, she wouldn't have been the best whore in town"...
Not in the comment I quoted you didn't, if you said it previously (can't be arsed to check) then fair enough. We had income from a lot of players so if we're counting net then our spend will be reduced a lot!
I'm simply stating common sense. Less games, less fatigue, less risk of injury, less squad rotation necessary for league games, therefore a more settled side, less distraction, sole focus on the league etc etc etc. How anyone can attempt to argue that playing Sat, Tues, Sunday, Weds (as Chelsea will this week / next), compared with Sunday - Sunday, doesn't give the side with the latter schedule an edge in terms of all of the things I've listed above, is truly remarkable and genuine 'kopite logic'
My point was simply that we've still had the injuries so its not been of benefit from that angle. In case you missed it, I agree not being in Europe has been a help. However, I also argue that if we were in Europe we'd have more players available to us too. We may have signed a couple more (since we'd have more money) and we wouldn't have loaned as many out either.
It hurts to agree with Tobes but I really think it has helped, there's no shame in it and it doesn't blemish what we've acheived and may yet go on to acheive. We've got to where we are by winning games.
What you do next season is next season......far too many variables to even hazard a guess at it now. My point was solely about the obvious advantage you've had this season, and then countering some of the budget myths that were thrown into the discussion.
Exactly right. I never said it tarnished anything, you deal with what's in front of you. You are where you are off the back of your performances
Don't you start, luv. It's not about whether or not it was an advantage, it's about whether it is sufficient advantage to make the difference. Clearly it isn't- otherwise, as has been pointed out, every year those lying outside the European places previously would be up there challenging for the title. Don't let an obviously specious argument contradict the facts.
I'm not it's just a general point made by some that us not being in Europe may have been to our advantage, it might have been but I don't really care we are where we are because we have more points than any other team. I'm just looking forward to being in Europe next season.
You can't quantify exactly how great an advantage it's been, all you can say definitively, is that it is one! The point about no other sides managing the same feat is down to nothing other than budget, so it was a totally erroneous point.
