I thought Gibson was our man of the match against Carlisle? in the cup early season, considering he had had little first team involvement before that game he put a solid 90 minutes calmly controlling the midfield, as it was against a team we were expected to beat, it did not receive much attention, however since that time it has become obvious that certain mid-field players we had expected to do better against "lower" teams have not been able to even put in an appearance never mind control games, so maybe, just maybe he deserves a short contract extension under the circumstances, I for one would not be dismayed at the prospect.

I agree about the money, and its getting hyper, Premiership inflation is now filtering into the lower leagues. Watching Preston the other night, it was remarked that the total spend on the squad was just 2m. No wonder Short went for the unlucky Simon Grayson, who was mainly responsible for building the Preston team, SG must have been shocked with some of our squad when he got to know them. Coleman so far has done an excellent job, in getting the most out of what personnel he has got, the real test and our immediate future will rest on how he goes about improving that situation without upsetting the applecart. It will be very interesting indeed. <ok>

His choice of managers has not been the problem at all imo.

Me neither, I was slagging him off at the start of the season and not without good reason, but under Coleman and without Catts apparently dragging him down he's a new player. He takes responsibility and you need players like that.

With a bit of luck we may even see a new Catts, as I think even creaky old JoS has played his part, all season to be fair, and I have been criticising the lad as a player, not as a captain ever since he arrived. In our present position we need every player to keep at it, it is great to-day to read the reports praising George Honeyman after the kid took some stick from some quarters in the past few days, we need to not only back these kids but allow for a poor game now and again. And that applies to Love too who I have slated in the past, he needed to improve and he has to the point where he is now first choice on merit so well done to him too. Its looking rosy to-day, and boy does it make a change hopefully as much to them as it does to us. Happy New Year. <bubbly>
