I simply dont agree Gordon and I think it very easy to go into overkill. I know many, many fans from both forums want what you want nd I want, good honest friendly banter and I dont believe anyone is saying anythig other than that. We also want freedom and respect and sometimes it means respecting other peoples views and opinions. I will continue trying to encourage people to show respect and encourage is the only way to stat. If I start with a heavy hand somw will back off and others will fight back. I'm not after starting a war I am after building a very good peace. If after trying to encourage people still insist on abusing then they will be banned. I have read and re read the posts you object to and I honestly believ the bulk of the abuse was directed at me from one Newcastle fan. A fan who is not a bad person, a fan who has adnitted he lost his temper, a fan who right now is on a article on this forum debating with Sunderland fans, without abuse.

. . . . yet you condone the Ninja idiot on this very article telling me to F off <doh>

Personally I don't think Mods should come from within a group of supporters. They should be as impartial as possible.

On the Newcastle board this week in one post I was called a c**k and blatantly misquoted. Now I don't mind a bit of name calling as it means nowt. I do however take offence to being misquoted. I complaned, first time ever.
I was informed by by the Newcastle mod (Bever, Todger??? Whatever his name is) That I shouldn't give it if I can't take it????
I didn't call anyone a name as far as I can recall and I defiantly didn't misquote.
If that standard of bisased moderating is maintained this place will become a free for all and rapidly loose it's appeal. To me anyway.

and to me and many others cyprus. I really like this forum and at the end of the day the standards will be set by us, the members. I'm relly trying to get the right tone but we have only been here 4 days and it will take time. Rather han fight each other, I'm not saying we are, I want us to help each other make this the number one forum.

I agree Gordon but that's what the internet is about. Can't expect non-fulltime mods to catch it all.

CyprusMackem you're right. Already it's becoming tedious.

Bit sad really.

So certain standards ( not from the Third Reich ) should be set, Cyprus <ok> . . . . and I agree with you about the impartiallity <ok>

Syd has put the situation across to you very well. <ok>

Gordon you have made it quite clear this forum is not for you.
Fine like I have always said everyone has the right to an opinion.

But I absolutely hate people laying down the law when they have no right to.

Start your own forum have your own rules and all like minded people will join you.

Why do you keep returning if it upsets you so much?
This is an honest question.

Are you a forum evangelist that feels the need to rant every other post?
Join the SMB's lots of people to convert in there. <ok>

I think it is very arrogant of you, to join a forum and try to change it to follow your view point and agenda!

Joining a Sunderland only board would defeat my reason to come onto a forum. I could just talk to my mates, and have no need to type if I only wanted to talk about Sunderland.
I like the craic with other supporters you hate so much, thats why I'm here.

If the Mags weren't here who would I have to feel superior over?

' Gordon you have made it quite clear this forum is not for you.

At least you've been honest in telling me what you think of me, and where to go <ok>

There are a lot of different people to cater for and it's impossible to cater for everyone, ultimately I'm an adult and I am on an adult orientated website so I know what to expect. If I add 'Adult Orientated discussion' to any sort of description then it will get it banned from most people's workplacces, this is the single reason this hasn't been done so far.

I've ran forums before and indeed I've seen all this fuss about swearing before. I made a complete mess of things by trying to keep every single person happy when I should have just let the majority decide and the unhappy minority leave. At the end of the day I have to accept that there will be some individuals who will never be happy no matter what rules we have in place.

Syd - nobody's having a go at you, you've got an impossible job.

It just seems that this forum is going the way of SMB which I know you're familiar with.

If that's the case I think quite a few of us will loose interest and bugger off somewhere else.

Gordon when we were talking about who should Mod for us I suggested Syd, from reading his previous posts on BBC 606, level headed and liked a bit of banter.

A lot of people thankfully agreed with me.

Syd graciously accepted, and has done a damn fine job here.

You put yourself forward for moderator!

Thankfully Syd with no agenda got the job. <ok>

Its OK whitburn I'm not taking anything personly and I dont think it is impossible, just accept I will never please everyone. The only point I keep going over is the style and tone of the Sunderland forum will be set by the Sunderland members. I read most threads because thats the saddo I am and the vast majority have little and in most cases no swearing. You have just used the word bugger, an unacceptable word to some, should I ban you?

I look at it this way. I want to discuss and debate football matters in general and SAFC in particular - not exclusively with fellow SAFC supporters - via the internet. This gives me a wider audience to listen and talk to, and I know from life some people will never think of uttering any swear word or profanity and others use them liberally. in life I will hear whatever is said until I walk away, but unlike life this site has a filter so I can choose what to hear.

I'm not going to like or agree with everyone.

Syd can you Mod this post he said BUGGER!

I am joking just in case someone bites.

Get my point Whitburn?
If a thread is upsetting your sensibilities get the hell out.

Start your own thread and if people come into your thread that you don't like get Syd to remove them, sorted!
You can have your own little BBC moderation going on but don't try and force it on the rest of us, thanks. <ok>
