JFK looks good, agree he is the best we have seen from them.

They could still have something that hasnt seen a track yet, Sir Isaac Newton could be interesting, couple of others like Fields Of Athenrye and Sherlock Holmes who look the part on paper.

Sir Isaac is the one im looking at, at the prices for the Derby although id prefer to see him out pretty soon, even if Ruler Of The World didnt debut until 3yo. JFK seem to be running in all the right races to suggest he could be their number 1.

I don't know anything about those but will stick them in the tracker to remind myself when they pop up to watch with an eye on the future.

<laugh> Was just a bit of a wind up beef, couldnt resist it after York.

I love Irish racing. Curragh maidens were my favourite races for a couple of years! My favourite horse was Irish, New Approach.

Ive more Irish blood than most and my team has massive Irish element, although still a Scottish club 100% despite what some of the Irish think. Some of them get a bit carried away with the Rebel carry on. And I can inform you there is a Saltire and an Irish flag flying above Paradise at all times. ;)

I wouldn't even be too worried if Treve got beaten tomorrow. As far as I can tell the ground isn't ideal and I'm sure it will be used purely as a prep race and to make sure she comes out of the race well. She had some nice work on soft ground but with the weather being so hot over here for the last few weeks I'd imagine the ground has firmed up and I wonder if they have had to ease off on the work. I doubt she's had an ideal prep for this race and unless she can win without putting herself out it wouldn't surprise me if she didn't win. She needs some rain to ease the ground so that she can complete her prep for the Arc. She doesn't like firm ground so I'm sure Criquette won't risk working her too hard on it.

    Hello lads.

Just back from my annual birthday party outing at my wife's Swedish friends..gorgeous birds..just likr the stereotype as I explained to Oddy last year.

I'm off to bed now...trip to the Curragh tmz with my mate Murph who owns Robot Boy.If he wins he says he'll talk to Tracy Piggott on RTE and let me talk to Chappers on ATR!!...I'll be the tall slighty swarthy guy in the Armani suit!

Re Australia,he would have most definitely have won under a better ride but I would have expected him to win regardless despite that...has to be seen as disappointing imo.Cracking race and perhaps about time to gine TGG a bit of credit.

Redolent of the Galileo defeat. He came there with a great profile, the race had two pacemakers and the result wasn't what was expected.

I was there. The silence after the post was incredible. The home champion beaten.

What was absolutely amazing was the way the Irish crowd then cheered Fantastic Light after Frankie pulled him up and trotted him in front of the stands to the chute..they love their racing.

Today was the same....our sport has some proper supporters in both codes over there and over here...if we could just get rid of the pissheads that blight some of our venues in the UK...especially York.

I think JO'B was riding to orders today..keep wide, stay out of trouble.AK was perceived as the main threat since TGG had been easily brushed aside at York.Follow him was the mantra, beat him and you'll win was no doubt the massage.

Not so...wouldn't give up on Australia just yet but I wouldn't fancy him to beat Free Eagle if they meet at Ascot.

Free Eagle is a smart one. I've always felt he was below par on second start based on distance between him and Kingfisher. Having said that, Aus gobbled him up. I think Aus would have dont to tbat field exactly the same today- all it tells is is Free Eagle is a G1 animal, and adds spice tonthe Champion Stakes!

Yesterday's defeat at least means Australia is looking very tasty odds for the Ascot Champion Stakes, which is where one would have assumed he'd be headed PRIOR to last night. 11/4 seems pretty reasonable to me. The fact is he was the best horse in the race but simply gunned down by the top flat jockey about. Only beaten a neck and would have lost god knows how many lengths going round 6 wide <doh> Switch jockeys and Australia wins by 2 or 3 just like York.

Free Eagle is 7/2 for Ascot and throw in the old boy Cirrus and maybe even the Gatsby it could prove a suitable race for Aussie to redeem himself but who knows where he goes. I'm thinking now they may head for Kingman instead and there's a few reasons to suggest he could knock him off his perch. Firstly there was only a few inches between them at Newmarket. Secondly Aussie was on the wrong side, shooting clear in 'his race' then idling as he often does thinking the job was done. The final and key thing that not many people mention is Aussie went into it without a prep race and at a time O'Brien's horses were in v poor form. Kingman had a run under his belt and Gosdens were flying. It was an exceptional performance considering it was his seasonal reappearance coming from a stable relatively out of form.

It is looking more and more like this year’s three year olds are not a vintage bunch. The Derby second and third were first and second in the St Leger, where it has to be said that Atzeni was very smart keeping his horse wide of the field, away from the fast ground near the rail. Kingston Hill must be favourite for the Triumph Hurdle now, as he is sure to get his ground at Cheltenham in March!

I did not see the race until Monday but I think that is the consensus of opinion. Look at all the ground he gave away racing wide of the field and very wide around the final bend. When you lose in a photo and you have given lengths away through incompetence, you deserve all the criticism you get. I have seen the horse a couple of times at the races and it always looks very timid and nervous in the parade ring, so perhaps he was looking to avoid getting amongst the others...

Tapestry was entered in the Prix Vermeille but they must have thought that black type over a mile would look better on her record than another Group 1 over a mile and a half.

Given how few options Aidan O’Brien still has for the Arc after this weekend, it is not inconceivable that they might send him to Paris.
