pretty sure McNally responded to a tweet about Bassong -> Sham a couple days ago saying it was bollocks (not his words)
My speculation - Beccio to CR with Morison to Leeds on a £3m + player deal and as the Hooper speculation refuses to die he comes to CR for £7.5m. Curtis Davies to CR for £0.5m plus one other who is presently not on any rumour mill. Jackson to Wolves for £1m and Holt to stay.
£3m+Morison for Becchio would be paying over the odds in my opinion. If Moro is going anywhere I'd rather he went to Celtic, or ideally Lisbon!
ichb, are you getting that from the BBC feed? Because I read that as Fenerbahce selling a striker to Lisbon, so RvW could come to Britain!
well you say that, but if we're up against Fiorentina and a smattering of other teams I'm now 50% less confident.
I'm hoping the lure of the Premier League will put him off Fiorentina, and whilst I haven't researched the 'others' link too much, if you stick his name into twitter, we're the only club that seems to be coming up. I have just seen him linked to a move to turkey on twitter, but then Hulk has been too.
I would choose Fiorentina over Norwich probably! Hulk is hating Zenit, I hear, and most countries cant offer him that kind of money
if you mean crazy as in 'losing your mind, cutting off your hair and standing naked, on a roof, waving rashers of bacon', then possibly
I have to admit, being linked to Hooper, Graham and Wolfswinkel, I would be disappointed if we didn't end up with any of them. Hope it's not going to be another later transfer and we get in another Kane like loan. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we don't sign anyone though, we still have the same team that had the 10 games unbeaten run, I'm sure our form will change soon and get another run going.
Thinking positively, thinks could be falling into place: Sporting are moving for a new striker, freeing up VdW for a move, we've bid for Davies, which while rejected, probably means we'll go back with a bigger bid. Also, Birmingham are so desperate for money that the later we leave that one, the cheaper he'll get. Thinking negatively, we've got 50 hours to go and have signed Lee Camp. We've effectively only got one striker worth having with the system we're playing, and without Bassong at the back we fall to pieces. Tettey is way out of form, Hoolahan not better. Tierney is so out of favour he doesn't even get a run out against Luton.
Birmingham are ****ing rich arent they. Inviting bids for their players because they are skint then rejecting bids. Davies is a player I think could do well here ala Bassong and a permanent partner for him would be very useful. Wolfswinkel would be the best signing this club has made since Holt fo shaw!
I think one of the best things about signing RVW is that it will force us to play differently. Looking at his highlights there is no way we can carry on with the early crossing from wide. He is the best news possible for Hoolahan because he's not going to be forced to play wide all the bloody time and he'll have some options. I think we will have to play alot more central with more interchanging of positions and with more regular and shorter passing. It could well take a few games for the transfer to work and I hope people are going to bare this in mind if we sign him, we presently play a completely different style to what he's used too. If we want the best out of him it should be US who makes the adaption to suit him.
Our offer to Birmingham must have been laughably low for them to reject it. I wonder how funny it'll look in a day or so's time though when they've not offloaded anyone. I really think Davies is a waiting game, to get the best possible price, whilst vWW is more a race against time for everything to fall into place. Fair point Carrabuh. I'll be interested to see what happens, as we may compromise ourselves defensively if we swap say Johnson for vWW, as that leaves Tettey a lot to do. 4-1-3-2 may be too attacking. Fitting Pilks, Snoddy, Hoolahan, Holt and vWW into one formation might well be impossible. Perhaps that's the reason for the experiment with the diamond against Luton?
While this isn't the place for tactical discussion, I think the diamond is played out now, hopefully it won't return any time soon. Too weak in the middle (or the wings, depending on how you build it). I can't see a way that we can fit both Holt, Hoolahan, and RVW into the same team but I don't think thats necessarily a problem. Competition.
