This being rumoured today - not a realiable source but it is different )

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton is working very hard to try and secure the signing of Austria Wien striker Philipp Hosiner before the end of the week, so he is available for the match against Newcastle,
Although the deal looks as if it should be concluded very soon at an estimated fee of £3.5m with add ons which could bring it up to as much as £5.5m.

interesting Zeller - and welcome btw.

£6m for charlie austin? not a chance - he's a bit of a goal-hanger like Bent, we need someone who will link up play with our formation.

Hosiner sounds interesting. I looked him up on transfermarkt, where he's valued at £1.8m, so we'd be paying the 2-3 times that apparently is normal for a transfer. He's bang in form though, 21 goals and 6 assists in 20 league games this season, although it is the Austrian Bundesliga. This season, the only player in Europe to have scored more is Messi.

Edit: Apparently he's also ill at the moment according to transfemarkt (it doesn't specify) so even if we did sign him, chances of a game against Newcastle might be slim. There's an interview with him here, where he comes across pretty well. He says playing in England is his dream, but feels he's better suited to Germany. 3 hat-tricks in 7 games in the league is pretty good going too.

Austrian bundesliga = top half of the English Championship, probably a fair comparison?

Yeah, although he's been playing and scoring in the Europa league too. Either way, a 23 year old striker, used to playing in a 4-3-3 (which probably isn't dissimilar to our own formation) who's scored 26 in 27 this season, for say £5.5m if he performs, sounds a lot better than 29 yr old Glenn Murray, who would probably cost the same.

Edit: Dammit, I'm getting excited about source-less speculation again...

Currently under the FIFA Transfer Regulations a football player is unable to play for more than three teams in one season. This applies whether the player has been transferred or simply is on loan with that club.

This also applies regardless of what country that player has plied his trade in, whether that is in Europe, Africa or South America. As long as a player has represented a club in a league under the adjudication of a FIFA Member Association they will only be able to play for three different clubs.

he's been at Austria wien since 31st Aug, so may have played for his previous club at the start of the season - can't say i'm that up on when the austrian league starts.
as zeller points out, it's ok to play for 3 clubs.

There's some pure speculation linking Hosiner to pretty much all mid-table prem clubs, here, which also seems to think he wouldn't be able to play until the summer. I haven't searched twitter, but that's the closest I can find online.

All I'm seeing in that video on the link DH posted is tap-ins assisted by terrible defending

I know you can't really judge from youtube ever, but that has struck caution into me.

Not sure where Zeller got his info, I'm almost 100% certain you can play for maximum two clubs in a season (willing to be proven wrong though!)

Yeah, that concerned me too. 1-on-1's, etc, he's ok with, but there wasn't anything that made me go "wow". If it was him or Murray I'd still take him because he's younger, but the video was a bit of a let down.

Presumably the Alex Pearce mentioned earlier is the same one we had on loan from Reading in 2008 but why would Reading be selling him to a rival?

There was a thread last week and PDC and the Swindon fans were raving about him - seems he has lost a atone in weight and though he hasn't svored any goals, he is pivotal to the team???? How things change.

'Arry seems to be interested in a lot of players lately. Mind you, as a player would you want to join a club if it looks as though you could be in the championship next season???

I would say we won't be making a move for beram kayal, Norwich would not be willing to work with his agent thats for sure.
