Yea, I'd say convert back to a 75% dry setup only. To not be completely out of contention should it rain during the first part of the race. idk thats what i will try. Also the start is 50%-60% to be wet at the start so best bet would be to start on rain and have a short first stint should you be on the wrong tyres.

I am curious about something. Say it is raining and you are on full wet tyres, and say the weather turns to dry on lap 20. Will the game count the track as dry right away or will the track gradually dry out? I am asking because of the settings on how many laps you should stay out when on wring tyres. If the game count it as dry emediately best would be to change tyres right away right?
 
Why does my spellchecker mark "tyres" as wrongly spelled and tires as correct? Is tyres wrong?

Hey mate sorry been a bit busy but to answer all ur questions, i play BATracer and its different with the conversions. theres no percentage on the conversion. in gpro u u only convert ur dry settings to wet and not worry about anything else. for example ur brakes for dry setup could be 100 but converting that to wet u just -100 or whatever it is. when it rains it rains. as soon as it starts raining the whole track is fully wet so u wnt wanna wait more than 1 lap. i always put 0 so my driver pits straight away but heres what i got from my 3 dry/wet race data and is very interesting. monaco's 1st quarter rain probability waqs 90%-95% and rained first lap and onwards. Jerez first quarter rain probabilty was 65%-75% and didnt start raining til 7th lap when it started raining and it stopped raining at lap 18 even tho the second quarter rain probability was 70%-75%. Imolas first quarter rain probability was 0%-1% and get this, it started raining on the first lap for 11 laps!!! cazy right?? i wanted to kno why it didnt rain on the first lap in jerez when the rain prob was 65%-75% but it rain on the first lap for 11 laps in imola when the rain prob was 0%-1%. i searched and studied my data for a long time but just couldnt work out why this could be the case. i even searched the forums but couldnt get a proper answer so iv just had a quick look and finnaly found something very interesting that i overlooked. Monaco's q2 was raining, jerez q2 wasnt raining and imola q2 rained. so with those conclusions it told me that if it was raining in q2 and u have at least 1% rain probability then it will start raining on the first lap and depending on ur rain probabilty will either stop raining or continue where as if it dnt rain in q2 and u have 100 percent rain probabilty then it wont start raining on the first lap but because u have really high probabilty will start raining eventually. i may be wrong but thats the info i got. i forgot to save my data for the wet race this season so if any of u have it and come to the same conclusion plz tell me. for this race it is raining in q2 with a rain probability for first quarter of 50%-60% so i think it will be safe to start with wet tyres for first quarter and change to slick tyres on the lap it stops raining. i think if u start with slick tyres ur gonna lose way too much time waiting for the rain to stop. as far as how many stops and the amount of fuel or even what slick compound ill be using i have no idea as off yet so if anyone has worked out anything let me kno.

BTW Christian its tyres not tires. at least here in australia lol
 
Now we have a group set up. what do you want done with this thread? Its a good point that people can access our studying from google and we should hide it yet we wont attract new members to join??

i think we have said alot for ppl who play gpro to wanna join this and get in on our teamwork. besides iv replaced them with what they used to be so if they see it and want it then theyll join in. i just think that for anyone who sees it will just read it and use it rather than joining us coz they wont need to. BTW do u have the data for the wet race we had this season?

Your theory sounds good. That's exactly what I had thought as well. Regarding compound and number of stops, I am gonna wait a bit more for some other people added their practice and quali runs to the database and work it all out after I did my practice. Btw, who of us have highest exp+Tech insight? That person should do his practice first to get a better estimate.


But I have one personal theory about race setup:

1) Estimated total race time will be about 1h45m at most unless it rains for more than half the race which it most probably wont. That's important because it means that only half the last 30 minutes with 0% rain probability will count.

2) In the four quarters (q1-q4) we have:
Q1 ~ 55% rain (of 30 minutes) = 16.5 minutes.
Q2 ~ 25% rain (of 30 minutes) = 7.5 minutes.
Q3 = 00% rain (of 30 minutes) = 0 minutes.
Q3 = 00% rain (of 15 minutes) = 0 minutes.
Yes it says PROBABILITY of rain but statistically its the same as it will rain x% of those 30 or 15 minutes
This gives that during those 105 minutes in total it will rain for 24 minutes ~ 23% of 100% race time.

3) Your settings should reflect this completely. If the wing settings is +100 from dry to rain. You should set it to dry settings +23 for the race. Its easier to calculate this exact later when we have our perfect dry setup.


This of course is only the most probably average outcome of the race, but in no way will you be left in the dust and completely off pace weather it rains or is dry. Some poeple probably want to gamble and pray for no rain at all and go for maximum dry setup. If they are correct they will OWN the race but are they wring they will lose out. I will certainly go for the probability.

Also, be careful before you follow those charts you have with fuel consumtion. They are NOT completely accurate!

I think its good that we keep use this thread as it will attract more of the not606 members to join the game. And a few setups and such I don't think matters much. But those very sensitive data and game "secrets", that's what we need to hide and only that imho.

i took ur theory onboard and did some research before i added any ideas. in the forum it sais tthat the rain probability is the chance of it raining. so 50%-60% chance it will rain and not the percentage of time it will rain so to collaborate with ur theory would be maybe a bit off. ur theory sounds good though it makes sense and especially with the evidence of ur maths proves accurate. they say that if its 20%-30% chance of rain then in percentage wise thats not alot so the chance of the rain stopping in the 2nd quarter is 70%-80%. in my dry/wet data in one of them the percentage in 3rd quarter was 30%-40% and it stopped raining before 2nd quarter was through. also to work out the 4 quarters and how long that is in race pace is really hard to do because the temperature works of the elite race and their times are alot faster than ours so maybe ud like to see their qualifying times and work out an average from there and that alone is hard to do as the weather will be changing and theyr q times to race times may be right off. also the +23 u might not want to try coz in practise u find ur perfect setup and if u add 23 then that might throw it off. but then again i could be wrong, i have not tried it so i have nothing to back that theory. i will be starting with wet tyres and fuel till quarter race and fuel when when i pit for slick tyres, from there i will make it a 2 stop with possibly extra soft tyres but if i think it wont last then with soft tyres. the reason i think theres a possibility extra soft compound may last ids coz dnt forget it may rain and if it does rain like i think it will then that will cut the tyre mileage a bit. just gotta wrk out my fuel from start to when i change tyres and the amount il be using when its dry for my 2 stints obviously using more

Probability of 50% rain is the same as if it rains half the time, mathematically. When you roll a dice, you have 1/6 chance to roll a certain number (~17%) that is the same as saying that if you roll the dice 6 times you have rolled that certain number 1 time STATISTICLY. Trust me the math is correct. what do you mean compare to elite. We are running the same amount of laps arn't we? Only slower.
 
Maybe I need to explain that further.. If you run this exact same race with exact same probability 1000 times. It will be pretty acurate that the rain have fallen the exact amount of time in AVERAGE through all those races as the probability of it raining. So what this does is that you will be running the MOST probable outcome, but it CAN still turn out wrong since this is only a ONE time race. You could gamble for both more or less rain, but the best odds will still be to run with the calculations.


EDIT: the wing +23 was just an example, I hadn't looked at those sheets. It should be 23% of the dry towards the wet setup. And if it is like you say that we need to take into acount for elites faster times. Then 20% would be a good estimate instead. 1/5 easy to calculate. /EDIT

ok well my maths aint the best so u could be right wich would be good for strategy :). and yep silly me took into account of their race distance compared to ours thinking theres would be much faster forgettin they wait 2 minutes per lap like we do. but i just hope the percentage aint of their actuall race time and their lap time averages
 
Lets put it simple. It is pretty likely that we will have SOME rain. agreed? That means that we need SOME setting tweaking towards wet. How much is up to you. If we are unlucky it could rain during the entire 1st and 2nd stint and then a full dry setup will be terrible. But it could also be dry the entire race and but if so 20% towards wet wont be all THAT bad.

Give a look guys, im after going 1st in Q2 with a wet setup along the lines of his, just take the difference he done, and apply it to your own setup.
 
u qualified 1st? if so well done, the difference seems to be different with the imformation my team leader sent me. maybe im missing something

how do u have ur setup for the race i mean are u goin for a ''in between wet and dry'' setup and if so howd u calculate it, or a full dry setup?

I haven't even done any practice yet as I'm waiting for more people to use the database so I get more data for my own setup. And I will go with 23% wet setting(77% dry settings). You know the numbers you have on the list on how much to change the different parts from wet to dry? If it says set +50 on your dry settings to get wet settings. Then take 50 * 0.23 = 11.5 and that's how much you change (so its not far from a full dry setup). Just remember that this is only the best if it is going to rain for 24 minutes. Even if that's most probable it can still turn out it will only rain for 2-3 laps during the race and if so you will lose out to those who are running a full dry setup. But should that be the case you shouldn't be very far of the pace anyway. And should it rain more, those with a full dry setup will lose out immensely.

ye im starting with 86 litres so that even if it only rains for a couple of laps ill be reasonably safe with fuel and my next 2 stints are with95 litres with soft tyres
