I am happy with how things are now, I also think all three mods do a very good job and I do not think there needs to be anymore mods. Like AG said there are going to be heated arguments when some people are celebrating and others want to punch a hole in the wall, it is bound to cause dissension. It is unrealistic to think that it could all be perfect harmony but so long as it does not spill over from the race thread and members do not hold grudges or takes things too seriously and personally, then I do not see a problem. People need to moderate themselves.
On the topic of moderation, I like and respect the fact that our mods are lenient and don't step in unless things are out of control. Some people took advantage of that and made offensive comments but at least we are discussing it together with the intent of making this forum a better place. I agree with others that the personal insults need to be stopped but ultimately that comes down to the individual users. I don't think a fourth moderator is necessary - for me, lack of moderators was never the problem. As Thomsen said it wouldn't hurt to have another mod, but I don't know if we really need it. For now I'm glad that we're addressing the problems and hopefully we won't lose a third top member.
Hey hey! Well, there have been some excellent responses to this thread haven't there! - And the fact that we're talking like this and able to joke around with good humour is very reassuring and demonstrates that this forum still has real potential. I hope that my congratulations to the moderation team for getting to grips with difficult circumstances will not be perceived as in any way patronizing, but here goes: Well done to every member of the forum who has taken part in this debate. Some of the ideas put forward are superb. Equally important, I want to thank the moderation team for sticking with it. Their lives are made more difficult by us, yet through dedication they stick to their guns for the good of us all. So, here's to the Moderation Team: Hip, hip; hooray! On a personal note, I'd like to thank people for making me feel a valued member. Whilst I am happy to be consulted if people want to discuss things via PMs, I do not think there is a need for me to become a moderator when I see such creative discussion. Besides, I am often unavailable at critical times such as the weekends of the F1 races themselves, and having been an Administrator of another site, I know the potential work-load and commitment necessary from the Moderation team! Any moderator who feels they cannot make the necessary commitment would be well-advised to take an honourable bow. We have lots of good members here who - with enough time - could do what can sometimes be a difficult job. We clearly have a good thing going here. Any new member should immediately become impressed by the interaction and will soon get the idea of behavioural standards. Now, let's keep it this way! Thanks team. (That's every single one of us).
If anyone else has something they'd like to add then please feel free, we hope this thread can be used to make this forum as good as it possibly can be. Views are what makes a good forum great. (Cliques over ) If you are unsure about making a certain view public then please feel free to PM myself to discuss things if you like.
I thought I would contribute to this thread on the grounds that I have been mentioned and accused of being a CoGT. A term I do not understand the meaning of but perhaps it is one of the insults that the mods approve of. Miggins has an issue with me because I disagreed with his demand that the Bahrain GP be banned and I pulled him up about his insults aimed at Scottish people. None of which has anything remotely related to Lewis Hamilton. I hardly ever visit this forum because the mods operate a two tier system, allowing some members like miggins to post insults whilst demanding that no one disagrees with the chosen few. If anyone has a complaint about my behaviour then go ahead and state it clearly.
RI that comment has gone. I wasn't aware of a member call RI, not seen you on here much. If you have a problem with miggins then maybe you should add him to your ignore list or talk things over in pm
When i saw the term "Board Meeting" I got an overwhelming urge to put on a nice tie, and sit around listening to others debating financial issues.
Whether deliberate or accidental, I think you've made a very interesting point here Cowboy. Isn't a 'Board Meeting' a place where one would expect a certain code of decorum and respectable behaviour?; a place where one might be expected to 'conform' to the norm commonly associated with these expectations?; a place where one might even be expected to conform to a certain dress code? Of course, I'm not suggesting that we become overly formal, but we could do worse than try to communicate in this way, just as this particular debate has demonstrated - which sees a priority in affording a proper respect to each other, regardless of our differences of opinion⦠A forum, being a semi-formalised place for debate, should adhere to a similar ideal. Any and all slanging matches should have been left at the school-gates after one's final attendance.
i've just noticed an issue with the whole forum. Because you use green writing, the word colour comes up when i quote you. But somebody has used the american spelling of colour, color, on a british forum. Traitor.
Great, back to the drawing board! at least the board doesn't call Lasers Lazers. Whats Zimulated mean, silly Americanisms
Just as a little aside, the F1 blogs on the BBC still allow comments. It might be worth those who still have usernames to comment occasionally on them. Put Not606 in your username or mention it in your post, fairly subtlety if possible. Memberships pretty good here but some sensible comments on the BBC might help bring in one or two extra's. It may also be worth trying to spread the N606 Formula 1 board round N606 itself, just remind casual fans that we are here. This thread seems the ideal one to discuss idea's like this too
I've tried it a couple of times but the mods are too strict. I tried to insult benson, and they wouldn't let me.
