Been over this topic on our board, but in my opinion fans at a game are there to try and support and lift the players. I ****ing cannot stand the type of fan who sits there waiting to be entertained before he/she will start supporting the team. Unfortunately we have more than our fair share of those at the Emirates. People who are like 'I pay top money to watch Arsenal, I expect to be entertained' and will get on the players backs when they make mistakes. ****s might as well be cheering the opposition.

The acoustics at the Emirates is ****ing awful. The middle tier makes the whole ground sterile for me, it’s a stunningly finished fabulous facility, but the atmosphere is horrendous

Wouldn’t say that the acoustics are a problem. But I agree that the middle corporate tier doesn’t help with the atmosphere.

You can barely hear the Home fans when sat in the away section, so I disagree, the acoustics there are an afterthought

Those bowl stadiums are never going to replicate the atmosphere you get at old traditional grounds, with four stands all close to the pitch. And the amount of corporate and tourist fans at the Emirates doesn’t help either. But I’ve been there for some big games and the atmosphere is great, when he while stadium get behind the team.

I sat in the Home end a few years back with a gooner mates season ticket watching Chelsea turn them over 2-1 the away fans that day could be heard above the Arsenal fans. :bandit:

That's the same at 90% of matches around the country to be fair though mate. I think Tobes has it right about the middle tier, I went to the cup game last year and was in the top tier and it was weird having a load of corporate sandwiched between the away support.

It's not exclusive to the Emirates, all big clubs (and I include most PL clubs in that) suffer with flat atmosphere's at times. A lot of it is to do with the way that the demographic of football fans has changed over the years. And the bigger clubs attract more fairweather, corporate and tourist fans. But yeah I agree that the middle tier with the suits and prawn sarnie brigade just cuts the atmosphere in two.

Also, away fans tend to make more of an effort and there's a bit more camaradarie when you're in the away end, because you're in the minority and you tend to make sure you band together to be heard. But all fans will tell you 'we outsang the home fans', which for periods of the game can be true, but it usually ebbs and flows depending on how the game goes.

Yeah that's why I said 90%, I've said on here plenty of times before that the atmosphere at St Marys was better with 20k in league one than it is on average now.

It's why I've mainly given up on home games this season focusing on aways instead.

Yeah but your fans will always be deluded ****s :)

In all seriousness though, the single tier stand planned for your home end is a brilliant idea. It’s what arsenal should have done with the emirates, you have the benefit of seeing other stadiums being built and being able to improve on those sorts of issues.
