That is the only thing but he is one of the few horses that will like a typical Spencer ride , the later the better but hopefully he is not to late which is the problem <laugh>

I've looked and looked and looked at York today and don't see any real bets at the prices. The racing is potentially so good there today that there's absolutely no need to risk the pennies to enjoy it in my opinion.

My views (ignoring the handicaps) for what it's worth:

Some talented horses here today but the one that takes my eye is Jamaica for team O'Brien in the Acomb. I think it will take a good one to beat him today.

In the Voltigeur, if you're taking 6 or 7/1 about GrandDukeofTuscany, I think it's time to knock this betting lark on the head. Kingston Hill has never impressed me and I don't want to take 6/4 about him but you look at the field and it's hard to see a horse that's going to be able to beat him if he runs to any kind of form. If i was having a bet today It would probably be this one because of the paucity of serious competition.

The International is a terrific contest. I think any one of Australia, The Grey Gatsby, Mukhadram and Telescope can win so 4/7 the fav is a bad price. I'd like the Irish horse to blow them away. He might just do it. The other three are really good group 1 horses but I lean towards thinking they are excellent yardsticks by which to judge the great animals. If Australia blows them away then he's lived up to his billing. If he loses then it's just another in the long line of over hyped Coolmore 3 year olds. If I was betting i'd back The Grey Gatsby at 16/1 for the win. He's a terrific horse for the Ryan's. A fellow group 1 winner. Previous York winner. The run LTO is easily forgiven because of the ground.

I'm probably going to feel a right chump in asking this ...................

    Official Ratings:
Back in the day there were no such things - you had a Timeform Rating which was available if you bought certain publications, otherwise you used your own judgement. So relatively speaking I haven't been brought up with them unlike most of you younger guys - so .....

I thought that a horse was given a rating, based on it's performance, which was then adjusted up or down depending on it's next performance, right so far?

Then explain to the dim witted please, why Chadic is rated 100 in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes today, yet only rated 88 in Donny's Group 2 Champagne Stakes next month. (there may be others, but this is the one I picked up on) Surely the rating doesn't get altered depending on the class of race entered - that would be ludicrous!

As I said - I probably just don't understand fully the rating system - but I'd like to!

Got me there reebs - fecked if I know. If you look at all his future entries on Racing Post website, his OR is shown as 88 for the Champagne Stakes, 88 for the Royal Lodge and 100 for the Racing Post Trophy. Maybe someone at the Racing Post had a "long lunch" leading to typing trouble?????

The only thing I can think of reebs is that the Racing Post website early entries are showing the horse's OR at the time the entry was made. Chadic's OR prior to his Goodwood 6th was 88 so I assume he was entered for the Champagne Stakes and Royal Lodge whilst rated 88 (and they haven't yet updated the web page) whereas he was entered for the Racing Post Trophy after Goodwood, so with an OR of 100? Or, they are simply more fussy about updating the Racing Post Trophy entries as it is their race <laugh>

Hear, hear, cityhull, and the form is still to this day being franked (sorry about that) two years on by Cirrus Des Aigles. The way he won that Juddmonte was just unbelievable! Did he stay 1-1/4 miles? Erm, yes. <ok>

    Today
    Kingston Hill 6/4
    Australia 4/6

    Tomorrow
    Tiggy Wiggy 13/8
    Tagroodah 2/7

    Friday
    Sole Power 3/1

    Pays 55/1

In the thinking that Kingston Hill will come out now that the course record has just been broken I have just backed Marzocco ew at 18-1 thinking it will be good value even with the rule 4 if KH is withdrawn. If KH stays in still has great place claims at a good price.

This horse has only been out of the first three this season on his last race in a Group 1. 3 places paid today and many in this race are not group performers in my mind.

16s and 33s the first two in the Acomb <laugh>

York was the fairest track in Europe before they relaid it, its a form out the window track now and I dont know why but a lot of horses dont seem to run their race there.

Pulled his chance away. Australia impressive again - such a relaxed horse, quickened really nicely. Thought for a moment that The Grey Gatsby was going to get at him but the challenge never came. To think Australia probably wasn't 100% that was very good.

But he won't be running in the Arc. Anyone who has backed him have lost their money I reckon.

That was impressive to be fair to the horse..I thought he'd have it a lot tougher today.

JO'B off to Killarney now,450 miles away for two rides.

As impressive as that was from Australia, i would still fancy him to get beaten by Taghrooda if they face each other. Unfortunately i doubt we will ever get to see that happen.

Cracking run from The Grey Gatsby in second, beat some very solid yardsticks and surely has another big race win in him over 1m2f
