    I always said Vautour should be their Champion Hurdle horse ................... it would be criminal to send him chasing IMHO - give him a crack at the big one and if it doesn't work out, send him chasing next season.

    The horse is a thinker. He can't deliver him until late, and they didn't come back to him (just like Uxi and Garde later on the card). Hardly STD fault.

    I have just got in and watched the races and could not agree more Tward, it was as if he thought there were 2 more fences. I think punters on the fav would have been furious. The ride on the Fly however was wonderful.

    Harry ran an absolute blinder today and two things to take into consideration;
    1) The yard is in the midst of a shocking run of results and very questionable as to whether all is well there at the moment and
    2) He was the baby in the field at 4 years old giving lumps of weight away to the other two that battled it out with him at the death.

    Jacob said after that he thought he would be better on better ground (it was really heavy today) and that the track was certainly tighter than would be ideal. All in all a great first race of his campaign , cannot really count Chepstow, and very exciting to see what heights he may scale over the course of the season. He had a hard enough race today so I wouldn't expect to see him out much before Christmas when hopefully the whole string will be in better form.

    Glad you had a good day and at least harry run well , it was always going to be between the 3 and I'm kicking myself that I didnt take the allways on it . As you say though the ground makes a massive difference , but when the conditions are like that you know in future harry can carry the wieght too .
    must have been great to watch the battle and good luck for the next run

    I'm not sure if I'm slightly disappointed with Vaniteux to be honest. I thought to be Champion Hurdle class he would want to be winning off 147. If he finished where he did today off 157 I'd be more excited. The one saving grace could be the form of the Hobbs yard and maybe Garde La Victoire has improved. They pulled nicely clear to be fair. I also think the **** early pace was right against Vaniteux. We'll find out more if he pitches into top company.
