Agree, beeforsalmon, but what a finish by the winning horse. Tough one for backers of Johns Spirit. Won't give up on Buywise, slow jump around 4-out didn't help him, but the first five in ran terrific races. Great race.
Paul Nicholls hitting form at the right time.....same as every year....always have to respect his big Saturday entries! I thought Kings Palace's debut was magnificent..... What a jumper! Possibly the best since Gloria Victus. RSA winner 2015.......CGC winner 2016.
Just noticed my bookies are refunding bets if your horse finished 2nd in any C4 race today. So a nice pickup on the place part of my e/w bet on Johns Spirit and a refund on the win part. Not so gutted now
2/1 Alpha does Obeaux was a hell of a price this morning wasn't it. Smashed into 4/6. Another Gigginstown prospect, following on from Valseur Lidos easy as you like win today too.
Really interesting juvenile hurdle this - Golden Doyen sets a really decent standard and is attracting money. Not a betting heat but one to watch.
Too ****ing right there should be a stewards enquiry about the running of Pineau De Reu, disgusting that he never even tried and obviously only ran the horse as a fitness exercise. I wasn't on it myself but would have been livid if I'd put money on that horse after that run
There would be a school of thought which says "backing the Grand National winner on seasonal debut carrying top weight in a listed handicap hurdle is not the wisest of choices" but each to their own
Very game juvenile that Golden Doyen - looked to have been outpaced several times over the last half mile but kept finding for Johnson
I've chanced Daring Carlotta at 5/2 in the bumper in the finale despite ground concerns. If she handles it there's not many better bumper mares around.
I agree mate but not every one will look at it like that and assume that if a horse is running then it has a chance or at the very least should be ridden like it wants to race
You reckon stick? I'd think she was simply beat by the ground. She absolutely cantered over Crawford's horse last time out and that's ones got second today...I definitely don't blame Paul myself!
Look how far she was out of her ground coming down the hill mate. The Fry horse was never going to stop. He needed to have her much closer turning in especially under todays conditions.
I agree she was too far back on that ground. She could have finished closer. Do I think it's cost her the race? No, not today, I don't. The winner has loved conditions whilst Daring Carlotta didn't. That's my opinion anyway!
Beefy, I said it was a poor ride mate. I didn't say he cost her the race. He just didn't give her a realistic chance of winning. The winner is very nice btw!
