73 would be very harsh in my book. If you look at the 8f race at Kempton tomorrow Cape Cay has just been given 69 for all but winning a maiden at Wolverhampton clear of the third, whilst the Godolphin runner Mountainside has been allotted 75 for two placed efforts, his last a 2nd to the Botti trained Aabir who has also been given 75 for winning the race. What a party runs in the race also and has won two races this year at class 5 and 6 and yet runs from 74. The profile of your fella is not really comparable to any of these horses although he has undoubtedly shown potential in his 2nd race which took him a little closer than would have been nice to a few decent enough looking animals. If you get 73 I feel the handicapper has taken a very cautious view, having looked more closely were I handicapping him I would alot him 67. This should allow you to be competitive in a nice grade 5 at Kempton over 10f, I would fancy him a little in the first race up tomorrow actually.
I think they will judge last weeks winner to be worth at least 80 and they will feel we could have finished closer. Next run will probably be an 11f handicap back at Kempton. I will let you know later what we get mate.
That sounds ok Stick, from what we saw last week it would look feasible enough without having too much to play with. I would imagine a grade 5 at Kempton beckons from that mark. Good luck and thanks for passing on the news
