Levitate and Graphic Guest up at York will both appreciate the softer ground and rate as ew bets for me. The race I'm most interested in though is the aforementioned graded chase at Newton Abbot my ew Gold cup fancy Taquin De Seuil makes his seasonal bow. A competitive little race to start his campaign. Using Double Ross as a yard stick TDS is up against it conceding all that weight to Colour Squadron. No bet but TDS to put down a nice early season marker, fingers crossed.
Bad fall in the last at Worcester, took a right kicking apparently. X-rays showed no break but I guess he is very sore. Probably wouldn't miss too many winner over the next 2 days though ........
Morning, crew. Hope everyone on board is well. I say despoiling and oppressing a nation must be paying well right now given how much loot Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been spending at the old horsey sales this week! As they say at my local careers centre, âdespoiling and oppressing a nation thatâs the line of work you want to get intoâ. Lovely card at Godâs own racecourse today but Iâll recommend one at Wolverhampton this eve instead, pilgrims: CHAUVELIN (7.20 Wolverhampton) â this one is a full brother to the very useful horse trained by Andy Balding who shares his name with a Dutch chap and ex The Arsenal centre forward. I wonât sullen either my keyboard or this forum by mentioning his name! His debut run at Royal Windsor back in May hinted at promise when he finished a staying on 2nd of 7. Of the horses behind him that day the 3rd home has won since, the 6th home has gone in 3 times and is now rated 81 whilst the 4th and 7th across the line have also shown they are no back numbers in finishing runner-up subsequently 6 times between them. That form then looks very solid. Chauvelin then went to Chester, last month, where he then disappointed but I can forgive him that as (i) it was his first start for almost 5 months and (ii) so many horses fail to act at Chester. My slight fear re this one is that connections will just give him âa runâ to secure him a handicap mark but Iâve put these to one side now as Mr Charlton is no âDaddyâ Martin and like Mr Henderson, the forumâs favourite trainer, always plays a âstraight batâ. All things considered I think current quotes of 7/1 a fair one for Chauvelin. Good luck all.
510 ayr apprentice handicap Josh Doyle has landed himself a loverly ride here SHOURANOUR , shou ran a nice race lto loves to be at the front andshould have enough to see off the rest of the field here as it is a small drop back in trip for them . My main concern would be the inform Megan and instant attraction (who may well be worth an ew on at 20s) but as shouranour brushed instant aside by over 5l earlier in the year on worse terms I am more than happy to go with shouranour. Then laddies offer 10s into the equation making it a no brainer for me.
Looks like a typical day at York - first race 25/1 winner, second race 16/1 winner. Can Gm Hopkins help punters out in the 3rd? Anyone taking 7/4 in a 15 runner handicap?
Typical day, Little John wins and I didn't have a penny on!! 6/1 outsider of the bunch. Not watched the race yet, did he win it or did the other two chuck it away?
I just couldn't take 6/4 about Colour Squadron. 11/4 Taquin De Seuil is a great price imho and i've taken it. CS hasn't won a race since 2011. I just have to take it on.
It probably won't work in our favour Drever but really didn't fancy Colour Squadron today so had to take a shot against him
Yep. CS lost. Taquin needed the run though and the Nicholls runner picked up the pieces. Well done if you were on Wonderful Charm lads.
At least I got it right Shame I dint have anything on himnice to pick him out in a fancy field but Tds as mentioned had a big task and didn't look suited to the course
