They could have the equivalent of hawk-eye for deciding whether a driver took their normal line, or what their projected path would have been to decide whether they would make a corner or not!
Here's the point, it ISN'T acceptable, more than one driver has been penalised for it, but one driver in particular has been allowed to do it time and again, the same driver has also been allowed to change his tyres for the race because he flat spotted them in quali and also been allowed to cut chicanes to take and hold a lead. **** F1 from now on.
I've campaigned for this (in my own world ) for the last two seasons and often drawn similarities to the old saying, some play cricket while the others are playing baseball. As a bare minimum the rules need simplifying, however I would suggest pretty much removing them all together. Charlie screwed this all up when trying to falsify overtaking with idea of giving room to a driver trying to overtake with that absolute tosh of (#) "significantly alongside". In effect he has given the advantage to the trailing driver which us fundamentally against the sporting ethos of competition. (#) Significant is a substantial or large amount and NOT a front wing alongside a rear wheel! In any other form of racing that's thought of as nibbling and is one of the worst half hearted things to do which normally ends with the leading car spinning!
Agree 100%. There should be no requirement for rules. It is clear what constitutes ungentlemanly or dangerous driving. That was the marker in the past to decide whether someone had gone beyond the limit or not.
Not wanting to open a can of worms but these un-written rules and common practice are a big issue. As soon as Charlie started offering 'interpretations' on the rules everything was up for pushing. I mean that fundamentally if a rule is open to interpretation it needs to be re-written. While sometimes a new needs clarification once that clarification is made it should be written in to the rules. The most dangerous 'interpretation' of the rules is the yellow flags. It has become 'acceptable' to just lift in the section where the yellows are. Here is what the f1 site says: 'Yellow flag Indicates danger, such as a stranded car, ahead. A single waved yellow flag warns drivers to slow down, while two waved yellow flags at the same post means that drivers must slow down and be prepared to stop if necessary. Overtaking is prohibited. ' This 'slow down' and 'prepare to stop' should not be so vague. In this day and age it needs to be some form of automated system to slow cars to pit lane speeds. If cars are only deemed safe in pits when they are at 'pit lane' speed then the marshals should receive the same level of protection when they have to go on track. Rules are required but they need to be in the spirit of racing, clear, not open to interpretation, transparent and consistent in their application.
He's a font of misplaced rage. Name your cliché; mother held him too much or not enough, last picked at kickball, late night sneaky uncle, whatever. Now he's so angry moments of levity actually cause him pain; gives him headaches. Happiness, for that gentleman, hurts.
Or Rosberg at Barcelona this year and at twice at Bahrain in 2012 http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/sport/formula_1/article1023049.ece Can you see a pattern? Lunging across to the nearside when someone gets the better line on the exit?
