Nothing really, GMR but it's not a football song as such, more a 'social commentary' song, like "In your (insert name of town) slum", popular in the 70's through to the early 90's. It's meant to contrast the 'civilised' urban football fan with the 'subhuman' rural fan. Funny the first time you hear it, I suppose but quickly loses its appeal. Living in Gloucestershire though, it does have a certain resonance as in certain semi-evolved parts of the County, such practices are seen less as less of a problem, more the modern reinforcement of a medieval feudal code which has changed little in five hundred years. Horrible.
I could be wrong, but I honestly don't think you'll find any regular poster on here with any dignity or any love for the club willing to repeat that song.
As silly as it sounds, I wouldn't want to repeat it on here through fear of it being read by the wrong people. But if you're overly curious, I think it may be on Charlton Life so search for it on google.
Click on the name of the person you want to message, and it should have an option for "private message".
Is this the same song? Just found it on charlton life, http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/27878/new-songs-do-your-best/p5. Horrible really, I would never post the song itself but it is on this thread, take a look if you really want to see it.
Unfortunately that is the one. Funny how only IA showed disapproval to it. Disappointing. I don't like Lisbie, but it's beyond me why anyone would/has sung it.
Even if he was disliked, he still played for the club for many years, let alone the fact he is a human being and these things should never be said or sung about anyone, anywhere.
Thanks, Calydon. Much appreciated. Hopefully, I shall receive some feedback in the near future. I will report back as and when.
Woah, retro. I was on CL for a while, then quit it. Wondered what I was disapproving as it's been a while. Horrible song. Ponders, look forward to it
Kudos for reporting it, I'm going make enquiries into this. I hope when at Sheff W I dont get to hear any of what you heard Ponders. There's only 500 of us so far, so they should be easy to find.
At the ColU away game a few seasons ago they had a kids penalty 'shoot out' when Lisbie's five year old son went up to take a pen some Charlton away fans 'booed'......... not one of our greatest moments
Glovepup....I dont think the morons travel that far north!......Think probably Walsall as far as they go........
I'm curious as to why SuperChrissy appears to have edited one of my earlier posts, was my grammar that bad??
