Spend as little as possible and buy a 2nd hand one off ebay, because the ps4 and xbox 720 will be out soon making those two obsolete! And anyone thinking about buying new technology should buy a magazine called wonderpedia, and read the article "can my toaster commit suicide?". It tells you all about how companies fix machines to self combust when the warranty finishes, or use materials that grow old and tired looking just before the newest model is released. Anyone who says their computer is so good it'll last at least 10 years(DT) is talking absolute s***e, because 1.these companies are profit driven so too smart to let that happen and, 2.our brains are already programmed to crave the new things and ditch our old ones when they come out.....
Mrs Staines has lasted nearly 7 years......when should i be looking at ditching her and get a new model
How long was her warranty? A newer model may be better but you have to spend a lot time finding out how it works, guess there's something in keeping your old model a little longer as you pretty much know your way around it and have grown attached to all it's little nuances. Maybe DT is right.... ;-)
No i'm not I don't expect to spend 9k every year or so and in the industry macs are kept as they don't break Designers know that upgrades etc take time in the Mac world to be tested I agree PC and windows will have to reinvent themselves again and again Ask yourself how many new OS for the pc have come out and they still can't get it right as they attempt to copy Apple. Apple may even drop out of the computer market in the future and the world is now just waiting for a new direction as the computer has reached saturation point A fully speced Mac Pro will easily out last the next five years while the PCs try and catch up And in ten years like my last machine I will be using it as my work tool The interface may change a bit but unless I decide to make my own CGI featured length movie I would not need to spend another penny
PS3 all the way for me. Cant reccomend it highly enough. Not only is it reliable (I have had no problems) but it can play dvds and blu-ray - so basically 2 machines in one.
Exactly this PS3 is also really easy to use. (You're gonna want the answer from a gaming teenager here!)
And i fully respect that. My boys all have ps3 plus is the Xbox microsoft ... in the words of Col ... I ****ing hate microsoft
Thanks guys..looks like PS3 is the way forward at the moment And Uber, I also spent far to much time on Pac-Man, Scramble, Donkey Kong, Missile Command and what about Defender...remember them? Real gaming !
If possible get both each console has its pros and cons. Goes without saying online gameplay isn't cross network so cover both bases !
Worthwhile to mention that the xbox has to release games with multiple disks now to keep up with the power of the ps3.
I can't help but hear Kryten there.
