A name that hasn't been mentioned much is Roy Keane - I hope it isn't him as he was poor at Ipswich - but he would keep the Manure connection

He has said recentl that he is ready for a return to management but is going to the EUROs with ITV first so it looks doubtful for us.

I'm sure during the Soccer Aid thing they said he was going to Italy this week for some charity match with (possibly) Juve, unless all the players have been arrested for match fixing that is <whistle>

I do hope it isn't him - he seems to quit whenever the going gets tough. And as for the Man U connection, didn't he have a falling out with SAF after slagging off his team selection and tactics when they got knocked out of the Champions League?

By the way that Fail article says we "Might" get to know tomorrow - just as likely we might not & this thing drags into another week!

Well if the announcement is on the 1st July then the chances are is that our new manager is contracted to another club until 31st.June.
Just have to wait until someone resigns today (other than Lambert). <whistle>

Edit: Just going to shops to buy a calender. <doh>

They'd have done a miraculous job of resigning on the 31st June LOL! Do you have some sort of inside information or are you just teasing?

Contrary to reports that Steve Bruce is out of the running to become the new Hull manager, it looks like the deal is near completion. #HACFC

PLEASE PLEASE NO!! The man is an arrogant b******d with a long history of falling out with most of the people he comes into contact with, and NO managerial track record whatsoever.

I think your forgetting him spending 20m+ to get Sunderland out of this division, quite an achievement!

Davies gone from 20/1 on both betvictor and stan james to just 5/1 on both now, bit of movement today, still dont think anybody knows whats going on, i got davies at 20/1, as i still think theres something in this one!

If a few of you chucked money on Davies, won't the bookies change the odds?

I'll be honest, the only time Ive gambled was on my wedding day (behave, my brother took me into a bookies!) and I didn't have a clue wtf I was doing (the bookies...stop it now...wifes been happily married to me for 26 years now! :p) and still don't quite get it.

I always thought the favorite was more likely to be the one people were betting on rather than the likely winner. I know statistically that maybe the same thing but does anyone know, ideally relating to football managers, the ratio of "favorites" to "getting the jobs" where knowing its a dead cert due to the clubs telling everyone is?

It will not be Steve Bruce, confirmed by a source close to him.

Well if Bruce has been waiting for the Wigan job he will be sadly disappointed. News this afternon is that Martinez will Stay @ Wigan.

With Poyet linked with Swansea, Paul Lambert with Villa and either Chris Hughton or a foreign bloke with WBA has Bruce shot himself in the foot ? Hope so and serves him right. imo.

Yep, that's exactly how it works. Bookies employ people to devise an original list of odds based on their prediction but then the odds move relating to how much money is bet on them ie loads of people make the same bet and the odds shorten, if bets arent made the odds lengthen.

100% agreed. Was a great player but sadly a one season wonder as a manager. Not for me thanks.

Then look what happened to him ?

Blind faith springs to mind on ^^^^ this.

Iv got Billy Davies at 20/1 also .

I got him at 20/1 and literally 2 hours later with the same bookie he is 6/1. They wouldnt have changed odds for my measley £10 bet so clearly there's a few lumping on him. That's the shortest price he has been since Nick was first sacked and he was odds on. Interesting.....
