Selfishly relieved we're not but also a little disappointed we missed out.

Next year if it goes as good as this one.

Although I wasn't that keen on getting a Europa League place (because I think clubs will redouble their efforts to stay in the Prem next year) I am quite disappointed that Ash has seen the need to say he and the club are relieved that we didn't qualify!

As a bit of a conspiracy theorist it makes me wonder how much effort the team / club / individuals have been putting in to games in the same way as Monk saying he was pleased Sousa's team didn't get into the playoffs.

I just think he knows that although the club may invest they wouldn't put it all on the line to compete in both and I agree with him. As much as the board will want us to push on I think they know ( and are probably releived themselves) at this stage it would take quite a lot more than they would be prepared to pay for, considering all the other investment that they still plan to do i.e Stadium expansion, academy and squad in general for the Premiership etc

Sometimes bob I question whether you watch any of our games at all as your constant negativity towards the club, players, manager, style, tactics, suggest otherwise. You are constantly paddling upstream against all available facts.

This time you actually questioned....the "effort the team / club / individuals have been putting in to games" as you say, they didn't want to play in Europe.

Regarding your new tool, the conspiracy theory, that's a non starter too Bob.....

.....but hopefully you will burnish us with evidence to back up your agenda, oops soz, opinion. Not an invitation to Monk bash bob or whinge about tactics etc etc etc just an honest request for clarity through evidence.

    Re slacking off:
As far as supporters of the club are aware, the efforts and endeavours of the players in their quest to achieve positive results post safety, post record and beyond, have been exemplary. They have showed plenty of desire in their displays, hence me questioning whether you do watch the Swans as it has been plain to see, 56 points and all that.

    Re relief:
The pressure to stay up next season is greater than ever simply because relegation is out of the question. The financial chasm separating the haves, prem league clubs, and the have nots, every other club, next year will drive the prem further away from the championship and could cut an insurmountable gap between them and the prem. Once down, few will return.

The big worry for clubs of our stature is that if relegated we may not have the financial clout to return the season after. The big boys will be bigger and we will have become significantly smaller than we are now as we would have found it difficult to retain existing players or attract quality replacements.

Hence Ash's words expressing his relief at us not being in Europe. Next year we have a shot free from drain and distraction and we can concentrate on our survival even though we would have accepted the challenge of Europe if it came. The relief expressed in my view is a natural response to a pressure which has been lifted. All pretty natural and not a conspiracy theory in sight

Agree wholehearted with Stumpy. The agenda for next season has to be surviving in the the Prem for the following season - 70% more tv money. In the summer we will strengthen but not as much as if we were in the Europa Cup !

Pretty much what some of us on here have said. The obscene amount of cash at the end of next season for being in the Premiership will set up the clubs future year on year. We will hopefully have other opportunities for European football and probably be in a much stronger position to compete.
