At the end of the day it all comes down to MM, he picks the team, he chooses the formation he thinks works best and he is the one who is currently ****ing up!!! To damn negative, we need points and the odd one against a relegation rival is not enough. The bloke brought in 3 new strikers and at the time quite a few of us said that they were uninspiring at best and that they were not good enough to get us out of trouble, looks like we were right!!!
The annoying thing is that it was so damn obvious!!!

There were a large number of top quality strikers that were all falling over themselves to come here in January weren't there! <doh>

    There was one.....

Who happened to already be contracted to ITFC and we decided to pay him off.. but in all honesty, the strikers were an area that I said I didn't mind us bringing in loans and I'd have liked to see someone like Jamie Mackie, Fraizer Campbell or even Heider Helguson <yikes> than McLean and it seems that MM has realised the toothless attack we have and has resorted back to his comfort zone which is get bodies behind the ball and 'kick it as far you can'

<laugh> And you seriously reckon that any of these would have been banging down our door to come and play for us! We only pay peanuts these days thanks to Evans and his FFP bollocks!

Does that mean PJ is more of an attractive proposition as he attracted someone like DJ whereas Mick can only get McLean, McGoldrick and Nouble?? I think we could've done better or at least looked to strengthen in other positions, McLean IMO is a waste of a loan signing (que him scoring the goal that keeps us in the division) and none of them have ever had good scoring records particularly at this level.

At the simplest level a 0-0 away from home is not the most disastrous result. But the trend is worrying. Middlesbrough seems more and more to be an anomaly than the marking of the end of a bad spell. The frustrating thing is it shows we can get a good result if the reins are loosened just a little bit. Sometimes i feel when MM was saying it will tight until the end of the season was a self fulfilling prophecy, doesn't seem that long ago we had manged to get ourselves closer on points to the p-word than the drop zone.

Exactly Mike, I've felt he got us out of the situation by tightening us up yet still creating chances, once the goals have dried up he's gone more and more defensive. After what he said prior to the Huddersfield game it was very very clear in my eyes it was going to be a 0-0 draw!!

It's a bit like the economy to me the current government went on so much about austerity that they refuse to move away from it at all which means in the end we will just have to cut deeper and deeper. I think Mick's gone on so much about being solid and scrapping for results that it's now been ingrained into us atm, he appears to be very stubborn!!

What isn't good enough is that against a leaky defence we only manage one shot all game. While Im glad Mick has got it tight at the back and made the defence stronger and I think 12 points (a draw every game) would keep us up we can not hope to play out nil nils for the rest of the season. If Mick felt (and listening to his inerviews before and after the game) that the best we could hope for out of this match was a point, I wonder where he see the points coming from, as we are bound lose some games before May 4th. Which games will be against an opposition where the back line is worse than Huddersfield?

Exactly MH, I see it as an opportunity missed rather than a point gained. We needed to go to Huddersfield with the mentality of gaining three points, not depriving them of two.
    Worrying times.

Nouble scored a hat trick for the reserves tonight. Who was it said he was all pace and not much else?

As Mike said an away point isnt a disasterous result, and the match was played on the worst pitch I have ever seen, how a football club can ground share with a rugby league club is beyond me.
The defence was relatively solid although Henderson saved us with a double save late on, N Daw in mid field was dreadful seemingly unable to make a simple pass of a few yards for the entire match. Carlos Edwards was equally deadful he seems to forget that a wingers duties include going past a man and getting in decent crosses for the the front players. This has been apparent for the last few matches and I think the suspicion is that Carlos has gone slightly over the hill, I hope not because he has served us well.
All in all it was the worst game for quality that ive ever seen played on the worst pitch ive ever seen, the front players had nothing to work with and christ was it bloody cold.
