Ivor I agree, not a football topic but a community safety post, well done SA9 for spotting it and letting us know ! On a lighter note I've just been told by email that I've won 300 Million quid on a Nigerian Lottery ! Yahoo ! Off to see HJ in the morning where's sir Mikes shopping list!
SA9, any doubt at all get your details changed ASAP. PayPal and eBay are good companies but they can only do so much. My tips (to everyone) are, 1. For online transactions use credit cards. Any fraudulent activities and you are covered under the consumer credit act of 1974 section 75. 2. If you don't have a credit card then open a new seperate bank account (a free one) and use only that for online purchases. That way you don't risk compromising your main bank account where the majority of your funds are.
Bugger me, Dilli is actually Martin Lewis! Any tips on how best to invest ...pension or property? High risk or low?
It's been an absolute nightmare trying to find a car. I went to look at one in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago, all seemed fine so I went back with my brother a couple of days later to pick it up and for him to have a good look at it as he's a Chrysler fitter and the car is a Grand Voyager. I nearly parted with £3,500 for that one but it turned out on closer inspection that it was missing the air con compressor which was not only worth a grand in itself, but would have meant they would have had to potch something to get the timing belt to fit. Robbing bastards everywhere
You did the sensible thing; don't trust emails or click links in them. Always type ebay.co.uk (or whatever) into your browser and go from there
Property every time Swim. Yes good tips there too Astro. Sometimes it's better not to use google and type directly into browser (press F6 and you're there) Also, any official email from your bank/ PayPal or eBay will always state your name and never Dear Customer. The bank will also state the last 4 numbers of your bank account and the type of account it is.
I got conned some months ago about another action site Zinga, I don't resister for any of these sort of things, but a mate said on Facebook to get on there and as stuff was really cheap. Did the registration bit and watch the auctions as it went on and for a laugh, I bid 2.00 for a £30 Debenhams voucher for the wife and won it. The wife pushed me to pay before going to work as payment had to be done, after making the payment this is where the scam starts. After making the payment you have registered to the scheme and you have to pay £55 per month membership, to cancel our membership which I did straight away you have a binding three month contract so, I had to pay up. Really pissed me off, and to add insult to injury to get whatever you have won, you have to send them you passport details etc, I don't think so!!! Eventually talk to my mate to tell him it was all a con and it turns out his account was hacked and they had sent this message to all his contacts. So the moral of the story is BEWARE!! If it's to cheep, then it's a con.
WOT YOU MEEN ? I havent won 300 Million ? Bollox ! Can anyone lend me a couple of quid as Ronaldo is coming in the summer !
