Of course we can legally stop Allen going to Liverpool! And it has nothing to do with any sort of agreement either it is due to the fact he is contracted to the club for 4 years, we can stop him from going anywhere if we want. If he wants to go, we should set a really high price for him and if Liverpool or another suitor doesnt want to stump up the cash then that is that, he can even request all he wants and we can still say no. Personally if we stay up this season and he has another good season I can see him going to better club than Liverpool anyway
That's absolutely true but very rarely happens in practice. The Swans hierarchy have always said they only wanted committed players at the clun, so if Allen isn't committed then I think he would be allowed to leave. Especially if the price was right. What's interesting to me is that we have the agreement in place but the speculation still persists. this usually means something is going on. The club denied that Liverpool had contacted them about Brendan but then he was off shortly afterwards. There's no smoke without fire.
Probably but the price would have to be right...ensuring we make a bit of money on him and have enough to replace him, which would be the difficult bit and I think £10 million would be just a bit short for the board who will probably hold out for a bit more. Id like to think Allen would want to stay and id hope that Rodgers just has a shred of integrity and wont come in for our players! But as I say I live in hope!
Arsenal fans already did this a few years ago and it appeared on the back page of the Sun the next day. It's amazing how easily done it is. I started a "Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to the Swans" rumour a few years ago because I'd seen him score a banging goal for Arsenal reserves and it was funny! Every now and again then, for a year or so, someone would come on and say "I've heard the Swans are in for JET"... Nope! Ha. Well, maybe coincidentally, but it was just bollocks on my part really.
