    Agreed.

This Cup game should feature Mark, Can and Maquillo.

Basically the young guys with promise who need game time.

Lallana should play, but Gerrard and Sterling should be rested.

Time to think about giving Sakho another go.

For me this game was similar to Rodgers' first Liverpool vs utd game where we played some good football but lacked a fi nisher up front, - of course that was before Suarez went into barcelona form

If we can play like that when Sturridge comes back and ee can bring in a striker in the same mould as sturridge then we can go back to worrying about the defence

The truly sad thing about today's result is that it flatters a poor United side and just gives ammunition to the knockers of a very out of form Liverpool side.

How long do you give it before "very out of form" becomes "form" (the norm)?
What is the norm for you, last season, the previous five or this?

I can't put a number or a time on it. I do know that there are some quality players out there who for one reason or another are not showing their full potential and not gelling sufficiently. If I could answer the conundrum then I truly would be making representations to FSG to take over!!

Your side has just hit some kind of form. We can argue if that is just a fluke or the beginnings of some real team development. What is apparent is the confidence that a few wins brings. We just don't appear to be able to get that spark at the moment. Find it and things will become a hell of a lot better very quickly. Fail to find it and we will struggle for the rest of the season.

I agree with you that winning breeds confidence, two or three on the bounce and all of a sudden the team starts to flow. The thing i have noticed lately with United is the togetherness, by this i mean they seem genuinly happy as a group and for each other. Today Rooney got subbed off but at the final whistle came on and hugged Van Persie with a laugh, last season a cool handshake/hug or pat on the back was the norm between those two even after a goal was scored. In the interview after the game Van Persie looked really happy and seemed to have a genuin respect for De Gea. In short, team spirit and confidence can help get you over poor performancies. I think Brendan has killed the togetherness in your team with his treatment of people like Sakho, Borrini and now Mingolet. They may not be the best players in the world but probably have freinds in the dressing room who think they deserve a bit more respect and maybe even wonder when it might happen to them.

Our squad has a lot of younger players in it and I think that we have not had the characters in the dressing room to keep the spirit alive. Losing the title and Suarez hit out existing younger players hard. It should have engendered more fight but it had the opposite effect. On top of that we brought in a whole raft of new faces who were trying to gell with a side that no longer had confidence in itself and maybe in the way that they were being managed.

Top that with a number of injuries and a loss of form by some key players and you have the Liverpool squad you currently see

I do agree that the lack of senior men who take on the responsibility is an issue big time

I feel as though Rodgers again must shoulder this as he bought lallana and lovern and balotelli and not people who would come in and lead

Out of form in the league for all but 1 (maybe 2) of the past 25 years. United are just poor though.

Our defence is poor. But it seems to me United's is even worse. They have the excuses of incredible injuries. But the huge difference is in the GKs. Whilst de gea looks unbeatable ours looks as if they could concede at any time.

Personally I think Rodgers has already reached the point of no return. He has made some critical controversial decisions. Which wouldn't be necessarily career ending but they are not giving him results, and worst of all seemed to have lost him the dressing room.

We are now out of CL and there is no reason for prolonging the agony and for FSG not to consider a replacement. If we go out of Europe completely this season, I can see us only getting back in a few years time and then like this years only for one season.

Everyone at the club needs a lift and that (I am sad to say this ) can only happen with Rodgers going and FSG recruiting a new manager with new ideas.

A poor united side who have won 6 in a row and lost just one in 11. A run of games that included every top side in the league.

Just wait until we stop being a poor United side. We will dominate this league with ease*

    * based on how we are doing now <ok>

Nah.... de gea was great and all but heir three goals were tap ins. The keeper had no real influence for us.

You are right though rodgers is well past the rubicon. "its only going one way"
