Quite funny about 4 months ago both Sunderland and Newcastle fans were putting him in their transfer dream teams, now he's awful and rubbish for £15m, while 4 months ago he would be a bargain at £10m. Why would you change your opinion of a player after 10 games, under a defensive, strict manager?
So you would pay an extra 5 million for a player who's out of form and doesnt look the shadow of who he was last season? 11 games or not its a big gamble to take, especially when you've spunked as much money away as both NUFC and SAFC have over the years. 5-7 million would be worth the risk, but not much chance of that.
Thats the point though, he cost £10m because he was in the last year of his contract, players who are in the last year of their contract usually have their values halved. Like Enrique, Adam and Clichy as recent examples. He would probably have been worth a fee close to £20m if he had a decent amount of his contract left, so I don't see the problem with paying £15m for a player who you thought was class just 3 months ago. Its a big gamble to take, yes, but seeing as most of your fans were so convinced he was quality a bit ago then why is the extra £5m such a risk now?
The only reason Wigan managed to get such a substantial fee for N'Zogbia was because Whelan dug his feet in and wouldn't settle for anything less than the 10 million they sold him for, they were quite happy to keep him at the club If I remember rightly if the right offer didn't come in. So I'd say in the form he was in then he was probably worth around the 10 million they managed to coup for him, but he really has been ineffective all season and not worth it. I see what you're trying to say and I cant speak for Sunderland but the days of signing expensive stagnating players are over at NUFC which makes the risk even higher than ever in my book.
utter crap. Zog wants to play on the right wing anyway, so not much use to us if Bruce wants a left winger. Lazy journalism at its best.
This is great news... Looking forward to about 1.3 milliom zog threads, and sightings of him eating a greggs pasty on sea rd..
