Think I'll do a Straw From The Nest on him anyway, as he's the only centre back to have "left" us in recent years that would get an overtly positive review.

Anyone who thinks Jay DeMerit falls into that category obviously doesn't remember how scathing I was about him during his last season. Still love the guy, and I'm always fair, but if I ever write about him there'll be some casual brutality on that last year or so.

i'd back you on that NNW, he'd definitely lost it by the time he left..all effort and commitment seemed to have gone out the window!

You could always do Straw from the Nest on the money grabbing child that played in our defence before going to Newcastle but that might be even more of a challenge to write a balanced article

Yes definitely worth its own thread. Interesting to see what our first choice pair will be.

Whilst i know it easy to craft all sorts of fanciful formations that look good on paper a back 3 could be a possibility. Or play taylor as a striker!

Great signing, and have to praise the board for backing Dychey on this one! has certainly strengthened the defence.

Not one for a change of formaiton mid-season, but could this lead to trying out a 5-3-2 when Taylor is fully fit, and the full-backs act as more wing backs? something like;

-----------Loach---------
-----Taylor-Nos-Maps----
Hodson-------------Dickinson
-----Hogg------Eustace-----
---------Bauben-----------
----Sordell----Deeney

We can always swap Eustace for Yeates and play both Bauben and Yeates just behind the front two and Hogg holding... or even have a midfield 3 and front 3 of Sordell, Yeates and Deeney...

I can't see us changing formaiton, but might be worth having a little look in training.

It's the BBC mate. They're still getting over the black death.

LOL.

Billy, are you related, by any chance, to the legendary Sunderland supporter, nicknamed "Celtic"?

Don't think so mate, apart from my sister my entire family are Mags, God bless em, lol.

Why do you ask?

That will never happen.....and even if it did Hodson isn't that great at getting forward. Would play Doyley if you had that formation.

Hopefully we can get in another signing or two....loan or permanent.
