You're right 999. And like many on this thread have pointed out, we did do well to get a point. In years gone by that would have been a loss to the puss-shirts. They have got more money, from the Prem. payments etc., as you have alluded, and at home, always up for it. We were very lucky right at the death that they did not sneak one in, but maybe our luck has changed for the better. Keep the belief mate. We can and should make at least the playoffs. I'm afraid top spot belongs to Burnley, by how much? IMHO that's for higher powers to decide (if their game today against Rotherham is anything to go by ). 13 effin' minutes of 2nd half injury time ... did someone die on the field or suttin' JOKE!
Seriously though, that Burnley - Rotherham game was closer to two hours than 90 minutes. Does anyone know what the reason for this was?
Burnley were behind 1-2 until the 91st minute and Rotherham down to 10 after 75th min. Playing for almost half an hour with ten men and tired legs at Burnley. Rotherham I applaud you You guys deserved at least a point.
Dykes is good...he does a lot defensively. Armstrong is raw, this is not his season, but just wait. I agree about Bonne, but he will go when we get an offer Slightly missed the point 999s..we do have 2 other forwards ( so theoretically don't need any more)... but they are always injured. That's the problem...do we keep them or get rid of..( can we return them ?) We cannot afford more whilst they are here
Remind me who they are, these mystery other strikers. Honestly, I can’t remember without looking it up. Not Roberts and Richards, surely?
According to Beale both can play as strikers. ... Agree I haven't seen it myself And agree we only have one number 9... Armstrong who I rate more than you isn't a CF, and not ready yet. Bonne...well Bonne...I have little to say about him
Has Bonne ever had a proper run of 15 or so games starting? I'm not here to defend him and he's probably not good enough for this level, but at the same time it does feel harsh to judge him on the odd and inconsistent sub appearance.
I thought we stopped them playing out from the back for long periods in that 2nd half which got us a point? Both dykes and chair worked their arses off doing this, to be fair I don't see many number 9s covering as much ground as dykes does, credit where it's due
Well, Roberts surely we all know isn’t a striker in the number 9 sense, or any other sense that I have access to, and from what I’ve seen Richards is definitely a midfielder, whatever Mick says. Dykes puts a shift in every game but we know his limitations. On what we have seen I think it is cruel to play Armstrong at this level, he needs time elsewhere. Bonne is a mystery to me haven’t seen him play much despite the years he’s been with us, but I’m assuming he’s ok at League One at best. And if we have genuine play off hopes it’s daft to allow players to ‘develop’ or ‘find their feet’ in the first team. Ninesy is right, it’s a big ask to go the whole season without a bit more up front, relying on the goals to come from elsewhere all the time.
I have heard Beale call Richards an 8. A midfielder good at carrying the ball forward, but never a striker. From what I've heard we probably don't have a safe enough FFP position to bring in a goal scoring striker in January without selling a key player, unless we can afford to bring in someone like Archer from Villa on loan, who there could be tough competition for and therefore probably would be expensive. I reckon IF we could keep most of our key players fit, and especially Willock, we do have a chance of a top 6 place with the current squad. Really I want a top 2 place, because I wouldn't fancy our mainly young team to win the Play Offs- we need a Bobby Zamora back for that.
Clive's take on things both on and off the pitch........ https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footb...901/qpr-make-their-carrow-road-point-–-report
Other than allowing them to take their corner after the six minutes of added time were up, and not allowing us to take ours in the first half, I agree.
Yeah, I wasn't so bothered about that. Time was plainly up when we dithered over our corner at the end of the first half and I thought the ref was right to call time. Fair to say you hardly ever see it, though. When you have six minutes added at the end of the game there's almost always further time to be added for subs or whatever, so I can see that too. I'd have been raging if they scored, though!
