I don’t know, didn’t see it. Fortunately I don’t feel like we have to care! Feel sorry for Brentford though - Swansea have basically picked up tons of points almost unjustifiably. Colin going mental!
A slight touch on the edge of the area. Think the league should investigate these fishy circumstances!
Great performance all round and use of subs . Didn't comment during the game as I was casting @Canary Spring stream through the telly . Thoroughly enjoyable win over our bogey team
Boro the better team by all accounts. Swansea scored after two Boro defenders collided and the ball fell kindly to Ayew. One of only 4 shots the whole game before the penalty. Even after that we're still 11 points ahead of them and we now have the highest goal defference as well.
And, despite the [mass?] hysteria darn sarff over Lambert's departure and Cook's arrival, the binners contrived to lose 3 - 1 to Cinnamon Jackson's old unit Edit - and, if any proof was needed....
A point a match - relegation form - would take us to 87 points, which would be enough for promotion based on the average points required over the last decade, but I think it's going to require at least 90 this time. Watford are solid with a good squad, Brentford can be inspired if they hit a run of wins, and Swansea have the ability to fall down in the opposing penalty area, so I could see all three potentially getting to 90 points. However, 4 wins 3 draws and 4 defeats - mid-table form - would give us 91 points and probably enough.
Maybe we want them promoted with us (assuming we don't do the mother of all implosions) because VAR won't allow them to do that next year?
Highlights are already up! We actually don't have a midweek game this week! Neither do out opponents so I will start a new thread later today
I am convinced that Pukki fully intended that Ibrahimovic-type flick of the back heel. As soon as he kicks it, he turns around and looks at the spot where the ball is going. What a shame that didn't go in - it would have been goal of the week, no question.
For anyone who watched the game, how did the Rupp+McLean+Skipp experiment work? From the highlights at least it looked like Rupp had some nice touches in attacking areas, whilst presumably offering more solidity than Vrancic.
Rupp was good - busy, quick, moved well and looks comfortable, but without doing anything really really obvious. It’s only on watching the highlights that I’ve realised he was involved in the build up to both Pukki’s goals. More of a pivot than a creator himself. I’d like to see more of him there. Skipp and McClean? Don’t think I need to go into that...!
