Pretty boring game as we don't have anything going forward but Klose kept our 10 year shut out alive and we move up to 12th .
That result means only a win at Wolves will realistically keep us in with any chance of the last play-off place, though.
Disagree. Oliveira worked hard throughout and had the best shot of the game forcing a desperate one-handed save from the keeper. Murphy didn't have a great game, but did create a threat on the left. For me, our players were better technically, but lacked the work-rate Ipswich put in and that made the draw a fair result in the end. Hanley was the exception to that, and was my MotM even before assisting the goal. His speed over short distances amazes me.
I would have preferred to see a few subs about 70 mins rather than 86 again and Oliviera will probably not score another goal all season but will almost certainly be guaranteed a starting slot every game which is concerning.
He might have worked hard, but the number of times when we were attacking and he was behind 3 or 4 of our midfielders was ridiculous.
I think it was later than that, even. Would love to have seen Hernandez given 10-15 minutes against a tiring Ipswich defence especially as Murphy's race was well run by that stage anyhow.
RER I often agree with you, but not always, but for once could you just say what you think we should do to change to increase our chances of scoring, rather than just wait for someone to say what they think and then defend the status quo.
Oh come on, last play-off place! I think they call it clutching at straws. We won’t score more than one goal in a game without having two strikers on working off each other. Murphy is now a waste of space and could be replaced by Srbeny or Hernandez. As we are not going to reach position 6 in this league Farke could now try out some different combinations. Sticking with Oliveria and Murphy has not not worked as the goal count shows.
I’m in agreement. We needed a win to keep play off hopes alive. May as well give some of the new guys some game time. Help them adapt to championship football, and see how they perform. If they don’t score well ok we are no worse off. Still felt like a win today at the end.
I said what I saw rather than arguing for status quo. For me, our midfield didn't create enough chances inside the box, partly because Ipswich had so many players in it. I don't think Srbeny is ready to lead the line but Hernandez could provide competition for Murphy in the coming weeks. At least we agreed about Hanley.
Ok a game of two halves, we were simply diabolical in the first half, no composure or quality with the ball constantly giving it away and made the binners look half competent. Second half we were OK, so the binners looked what they are, a dire workmanlike side of very little quality. As much as we looked better second half and had plenty of shots, this was a typical Farke team performance. No penetration, very few good chances, easy to defend against except individual brilliance from Madders. I don't blame Nelson, he like Jerome before is damned by a system that gives a striker scraps at best. It is near impossible to see us winning by more than one goal whilst we play all of our football slowly infront of the opposition, another crap home performance, the binners really were poor, but we just don't have the tactics to beat even slightly obdurate opposition. Farke, sort it out! Here in lies the problem, Farke will continue to have us pinch games on the road, hell we are on a tidy unbeaten run, but these dire home failures will continue to undermine any faith we have in him. For any one who sees all the home games I ask, has anything changed since the first more solid game post Millwall? Is Farke actually trying anything new? Woohoo, we stole a point and broke binner hearts at the death, things could be worse! Bah!
Gutting to only draw that. Hernandez pace at about the 70th minute mark as we were on top and Ipswich Bookings were piling up would have been so exciting, and I think they would have been more worried about defending than building a last push on us. I would have even been tempted to put Watkins on for his pace and work rate just to worry the tired Ipswich players. Really feels like a massive missed chance, because yet again DF doesn't try and influence a match until it is beyond too late. Which kind of reflects the decision making of all our attacking players apart from Maddison. Just too mentally slow. Saying that, I would have taken a 0-0 at HT, and I'd 100x rather this finish, to seeing out a 0-0. It's the hope that kills you Ipswich! That was such a sweet moment and satisfying moment. Pure determination and calm quality from Hanley. Who was fantastic all game.
Our first sub came on just before the 84th minute, but I was also hoping to see Henandez to come on in the 60th minute. Oliveria may work hard but if he isn't scoring he needs to be dropped and give our 2nd striker a chance.
Murphy dawdles too much, and is too keen to switch it to his right foot, by which time he is closed down and loses the ball. I think he needs to be used as an impact sub for a few games. Against tired legs and minds, but I don't know what he'd be able to do in 2 minutes of a game. Like all DFs subs.
Ooooooooh!! Meow! I think it's a fair point though. I bet he'd have got us promoted with the same budget and squad. Football wouldn't have been pretty, but it's pretty dire sitting through Daniels "style" of play. I don't think there is a hell of a lot of difference in entertainment.
