Norwich City return to action at Carrow Road on Sunday, January 8 (KO 2pm), in an Emirates FA Cup fixture against Blackburn Rovers in a third consecutive home game.

The Canaries are looking to pick up a win in the cup this weekend, starting a refreshed run of form following just one win and one draw in the last five matches.

Both sides will compete in the 2022/23 FA Cup for the first time, having been automatically included in the draw going into the third round.

Special interest will be added by the new appointment of David Wagner and the hope that he can lift the flagging spirits of our players. Gegen press and go! OTBC!

A nasty chest infection for the last 6 days. A lot of it about, apparently. Not Covid as I've tested negative twice.

What a refreshing change it is to hear this from Wagner:

"I like this high intensive, aggressive football where you are brave and chase opponents. Even if you have to respect opponents, which we will do, but look after yourself, home or away, try to play your football. It needs work, it doesn’t come by night. We have to work on the training pitch and in a lot of video meetings too, but this is why I got hired.

"I said this is the football I love, this is the football I like my team to play. And I’ve seen enough that I’m sure we have the players, the individuals and the mentality to do it. That said, we need time, we have to work a lot. Confidence isn’t at the highest when you are not winning football matches as you’re expected to do but this is something you can only change on the grass."

Wagner outlined his eagerness to push players and coaches outside of their comfort zone, outlining that keeping the same routine rarely leads to that.

From the article Rick referred to on the Manager Suggestions thread (my highlighting):
"Wagner may opt to use the 4–3–3/4–2–3–1 hybrid system he used at Huddersfield (above). By having Idah and Sargent tuck in narrow and again the width coming from wingbacks. This would be similar to Alan Russell/Steve Weaver’s systems which didn’t deliver well, but could be more productive with coaching and familiarity (and the use of substitutes)."
Bit of a coincidence if that's how we line up this afternoon?

Wonder whether he's had a knock. Surely he'd be on the bench, if not starting.

I like this lineup - with the exception of Sargent,it's pretty much who I'd playing as a 1st team in the league
