Top of the form table for November! Until Man City play at least] We're now up to 11th in the form table:
You guys must watch a completely different Aarons to me. He is rarely caught out of position, his covering is excellent and he also rarely gets beaten on the outside. He almost never makes a passing mistake (today’s poor pass to Krul was notable because he’s the only defender we have who hardly ever makes a mistake and despite some hammerings I don’t remember him putting a dangerous pass like that before this season).
Offensively I think his crossing and decision making leaves a little bit to be desired sometimes, but the fact that he’s able to contribute offensively so much despite rarely being caught out of position is quite surprising.
He also seems to be the consummate professional.
And he’s what, 22?
There’s a reason he’s been linked with big clubs. I think he’ll make the grade.
I was hoping DS arrival might spark more game time for Sorensen but so far he hasn’t even made the bench for DS’s first 2 games.DS giving Cantwell, Gilmour, Dowell and now Tzolis game time so far. If Normann is out maybe time for Sorensen to come in our of the cold? Not sure what happened for DF to freeze him out, but when he has played he always performed well, mostly in a position he was not familiar with. Is the step up to the EPL too much for him?
The first choice that has to be made is which of these players would you drop to put Sørensen on the bench:I was hoping DS arrival might spark more game time for Sorensen but so far he hasn’t even made the bench for DS’s first 2 games.
Perhaps he has temptations to climb the curtains in his mad five minutes at home. Our cat certainly does.I thought some of our passing in the match was the best I have seen from Norwich this year, though with the ball holding up in the air and skipping off the sodden turf we didn't seem to get the connections on some of the shots.
I watched most of the Newcastle game and I think they are bottom for a reason, they had a few chances, but I think if we play with the intensity of the 2nd half today we will win.
As for Hanley I think I'll start calling him 'the cat' from now on, not because he's like Phil Tufnell, but because cats have a mad 5 minutes every so often and that's what it seems with Hanley, he'll be fine the do something mad and then go back to being fine.

Since DS took over, Normann has basically been playing as a DM, a change which IMO has unquestionably helped us defensively. In which case I'd say there is now more opportunity for Sørensen than there was under Daniel Farke. It'll be interesting to see if he comes into contention for Tuesday in the event that Normann is ruled out.The other factor could be that with a 3 man midfield, there is less need for a specialist DM.
I agree with that Robbie, but I also have some reservations about Normann being limited to the DM role. Exhibit A would be his goal against Brentford which was the key to that win, IMO. Perhaps as a DM he could still play the killer through ball to Pukki that produced a goal, but if losing those capabilities is to be the price paid for bringing Gilmour into the line-up there seems to be an unknown future. It may turn out be the right balance but I'm not yet convinced.
Normann was clearly struggling physically with his pelvis problem against Wolves but since he arrived he has been our best player, IMO, and he's our highest rated player on WhoScored. Gilmour is also a player with huge potential, so we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
He has, but under DF he was playing in a team most of whom gave the impression of not fully knowing what they were supposed to be doing. Now he has real competition in the form of Rashica, Gilmour, Williams et. al.Normann was clearly struggling physically with his pelvis problem against Wolves but since he arrived he has been our best player.
Yes, that's the balance I was talking about really. We don't know how Normann feels about that, though. He plays in a two man midfield for Norway, which naturally means more concentration on defensive duties. The other side of his game is his ability to provide telling passes and through balls to the attacking players which could be more limited if he's playing deeper. I'm also wondering where the goals are going to come from, as Rashica, Sargent, McLean, Gilmour et al don't seem to be delivering. This could give some credence to the Hourihane rumours, as he has been a regular goal scorer and can also play as a DM.I agree that it seems playing as a DM we won't get the versatility and perhaps 'the best' out of Normann, but it might be better for the team overall. If it helps us stay up from which we can strengthen in the DM area and then the following year Normann can play in a better position the following year. It's all about survival and building from there.
