Yes, a horrible game but a valuable point all the same. The Baggies offered very little after their goal. Ugly draw but it would have been an even uglier loss with both Sheffield United and Burnley both winning. Watford also drew at home.
Excommunicate me for saying it, but Smith has not moved us forward an inch since he arrived last November.
Not sure I agree - in terms of defensive quality and goal scoring, in open play not much has changed (stylistically, arguably, we have slightly regressed). But in the last few weeks I am confident we have improved defensively from set pieces. I know it seems ironic, because we conceded from a set piece today, and it may well not have statistical justification, but I feel far more confident from corners and freekicks than I used to. The one thing Smith has managed to achieve is team unity and belief - for all today was horrible to watch, it wasn’t for lack of self-belief. It was an off day for players who we know can find a pass better and move better. Equally, we got promoted from the Championship with a record points score - so if Smith has not regressed too much from that then we still have a very good chance of getting promoted… I’m more confident than I was even four games ago. But yes he’s still got loads of work to do.
I am finding it increasingly difficult to believe that we can barely get out of 2nd gear (sometimes only 1st gear) and still not lose. My god the Championship is poor this season
Well we are 10 games in, which most said they would pass first judgement. We are 2nd and within touching distance of first place so that should be enough
We are second because the league is incredibly poor. And if we keep on playing the way we have, we won't be second for much longer.
We might not have played well the last 2 games, but we've still taken 4 points. 2 points per game is going to see us in the top 6. So carry on like this and I think we will still be second.
