I'm taking my gf's Dad and Brother to the Hull game. Gonna be a bit of a rush after work. But think I have it all planned out.

Going to be another tense one. Worried about Jarrod Bowen. That kid is dangerous.

Paddy's 'pinters' (I liked that JMF) are spot on. McNally did well with his 7 year plan but he had to handle the CEO side as well and he did have the football knowledge that SW has. The scouting system has excelled on a shoestring budget but SW was also committed to acquiring and developing young players and the timing has been perfect to take advantage of the Academy One status coming to fruition. The other key lies in the 'hunger' of these players, whether because they've missed out in the past or young guns raring to go. That's where the 'never say die' attitude comes from. We must not lose that if promotion does happen.

Gary Gower makes the same point from a slightly different angle:

"And of course, when you have a little magician like Buendia in your side, you always have the unexpected in your armoury. His 54th-minute strike, set up by some clever play from the man at Collection Point B, was as unerring as it was unexpected. As others have said, for all his obvious quality, spectacular goals have not been his thing so far but as his howitzer fizzed passed a helpless Kristoffer Nordfeldt his value nudged up another million or two. And let’s not forget, as someone reminded me on Twitter, he was purchased for a fee akin to that we received from Bristol City for the services of one Marley Watkins. Wow."

Good game lads, we missed McBurnie for sure upfront, but we were beaten by a fabulous goal, fair play. All the best for the remaining season....<cheers>

Lots of media talk around here about how Swansea gave us one of our most rigorous tests of this season, especially first half. And it was a very hard-earned 3 points. <ok>

Same to you. You have a decent manager, I'm sure you will be nearer to the top next Season if you keep him, and sort out the transfer policy. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Look at us last season mate. I’d rather stab my own eyes out than watch us last Season.

Disagree. At times we looked sensational. I went to both Chelsea and Arsenal away in the cup matches and we looked magnificent, really lovely football. Maddison looked like Zidane.

The problem was that the next week we would be woeful.

IMO, most of our problem last season was that we were so slow in our build-up (a lot of times thanks to JM) and the opposition were able to get numbers back in defence. Our ‘goal attempts’ to ‘shots on target’ ratio was abysmal. <yikes>
This season, some of our build-up play has been sensational and I remember that one of our goals against the Owls; it was 16 seconds from Zimmerman passing the ball to Aarons until the ball was in the back of the Owls’ net!!!

Of course Tettey played a lot more last season. I get the feeling Tettey is dropping down the pecking order and his competitors seem to be much more interested in playing the ball forwards. So annoying that McLean got injured, if he hadn't, I think he would have been as talked about as Arrons or Buendia.

Is that the same McClean that has a groundswell of opinion now saying he must be dropped to get either Vrancic or Leitner back in the side? Tettey was pretty bloody good first half of the season. But I do think as Trybull gets better at the defensive side Tettey's chances of a game are deminishing by the week.

    Bah!

    As
As much as I am a fan of McLean, I'd far rather see him make way for Leitner/Vrancic (in that order), as they offer more defensively.

Don't think we have a player called McClean. Not sure if there is a groundswell of opinion saying that McLean should be dropped. I don't doubt there's a few that are never happy, probably the same people that wanted to write off Godfrey's potential to be a CB, when he had a less than perfect game against Sheffield Utd. Not that I said McLean should start ahead of either Vrancic or Leitner for our next game.

What I said was 'I get the feeling Tettey is dropping down the pecking order and his competitors seem to be much more interested in playing the ball forwards. So annoying that McLean got injured, if he hadn't, I think he would have been as talked about as Arrons or Buendia'.

I would include Vrancic & Leitner as Tetty's competitors.

I like McLean, but I also like Leitner and Vrancic, all for different reasons. Leitner adds poise to CM with his passing abilities and the knack of being in the right place to take a pressure relieving pass, particularly when playing alongside Tettey. Vrancic is more of an all-rounder, being the best defensively but also capable of wicked through balls and telling long passes. Leitner is more of an interchange passer and pivot for the attack, but like McLean, less good defensively. Each has his own strengths and I'd prefer to see DF choosing tactically according to the opposition rather than always keeping a winning line-up.

As much as I like Leitner I think McLean and Vrancic carry a bigger goal threat, both are better finishers than Leitner. For me I’d like to see Leitner come in and McLean or Vrancic take Steipermanns place, he looks jaded

The groundswell I was talking about was everyone on MFW. Many on here too.
The way I see it, you should have Tettey and Trybull (Thompson if ever fit for long enough) after the defensive roll. Leitner and Vrancic as second midfielder and McLean vs Stieperdude.
Cantwell, McLean and Vrancic can play either of those 2nd n 3rd midfield roles but for me I'd define those as first choices in the positions so if KM can't usurp Steiperdude then even if he has played in the other midfield role in a bind, he makes way for the other two who perhaps suit it better for our style of play.
However, Farke appears to see it as he who is in possession of the shirt keeps it until they get injured or form drops. It always seems to be the former because our form has just been relentlessly good and made it tough to drop anyone. Even individually everyone gas stepped up. You can't really argue with Farkes call with us top of both the form table and league.
So whilst most seem to be calling for Vrancic of Leitner to return I'll back Farkes call what ever, he has proved all of us doubters wrong time and again.
    Bah!

I agree with this. The only problem is that Stiepermann seems to be so central to our current system. He definitely looks like he needs a rest and a refresher
