Touché! I actually meant our stats- as in our shots on target... Not one of the Man U shot troubled Ruddy and only one of the Arsenal ones, so I guess it's not the best example, whereas we really should have put away our chances. Never bring up stats! My bad. I think I'll take the independent commentators view that we thoroughly deserved our results over your opinion, if that's ok! I'll admit, I've only watched you twice- against the Manchester sides. I've seen MOTD every week, but I'm wise enough to it to know it only shows part of the story and I've read the match reports. I think you've got a lively squad with a good attack and I think you'll stay up fine. Even if we beat you 10-0 I doubt I'll change that opinion, because I know the score will reflect us containing you then taking advantage of your weak defence. I don't disagree with any of your last paragraph. I just am surprised about how much virtually your entire fan base seems to underrate us!
Wouldn't say villa are shocking, but not sure they have the character for a relegation scrap. Wigan play nice footy but I think they are fragile too.long way to go mind Do you think saints will rotate anyone on Wed given it's a midweeker and you only played today?
To be honest Villa would have a much better chance if Darren Bent was playing. It looks certain he'll leave in January but he could score vital goals between now and then.
I highly doubt it. We've finally found some continuity and good form and I expect an unchanged side, although Lambert did seem to pick up a knock.
Sounds wise. I hope he (rickie) plays so we can see holt vs lambert! Holt has been more of a handful this season despite only bagging 3 goals so far Saints will be favs as they are at home, as we would be if it was at CR. hope it's a good one, it's my first visit to st marys
It could be one of those games where the first goal could be very important. When Saints get it, confidence tends to flow through the side and generally score 2 or 3. If Norwich get it then the players and the crowd will get tense and it will may be a draw or Norwich win.
Haha stats are a cruel mistress my friend, some will aid you, some will bite you on the arse! That's quite OK, I would almost certainly say the same thing in your position. I don't mean to downplay your achievements in the games, I just don't feel that the performances were quite what you would think if you saw the results on paper. That's not to say you played badly and fluked some results, quite the opposite. It's just that normally if I looked at a team coming to St. Mary's with six games unbeaten, with wins against United, Arsenal and Stoke, and a draw at Goodison, I would think 'Wow, we will be incredibly lucky to get anything from this game', but in reality I feel that if you played similarly to some of your recent games, we could reasonably expect to be able to get a result. Hope that explains my viewpoint better, at the end of the day it matters little and all the important talking will be done on the field on Wednesday!
Sort of... I just find it so illogical. Even when we were sitting pretty in twelfth all last season teams seemed to be surprised by our performances. Pundits too. It plays into our hands to be fair! I suppose what I'm really surprised about is that, to a man, you all seem to think this will be a win for you, yet I think most Norwich fans would not say the same thing if you were at home to us. Maybe we're a little less self-confident! I think we've got slightly more quality on average across our squad, especially defensively, so I would expect at least some So'ton fans to be a little less confident!
I think your lack of flashiness is what causes people to label you as a fairly below-average team that everyone should be having a field day against. Of course the way your team goes about it's business means this is not the case very often, but I think some people will watch 20 minutes of one your games on Sky, think 'well they are ****ing boring and ****', and then dismiss you. The average football fan does not see or care for much beyond what happens in and around either box. We are just enjoying some positivity I think mate! Been a tough few weeks up until the Swansea game, things have turned around a touch and the last couple of games have been wonderful, now everyone is back to loving life and backing us for the top-half. Personally I think it will be a draw. I think some people think it will be a win due to underrating you, some due to overrating ourselves, and for a lot I think it's just a case of, in our position, we need to be winning games at home against the 13th placed team.
It has to be said that Newcastle only have QPR below them in the form table and have lost three on the bounce away and have not won away in at least six games. However, you've won two on the bounce, so are obviously starting to get used to life in this league. As for us - yes United and Arsenal weren't great, but we still kept clean sheets and beat them both (I can only imagine what you boys would be saying had you been in that position). We are unbeaten in seven and have kept three clean sheets in our last four games, so we are on good form (4th in that form table). I think this game has a 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it. Although our defence need need to be very sharp as they are coming up against Lallana, Ramirez, Lambert, Puncheon and Cork who are on great form.
Wouldn't surprise me. Football's a funny game sometimes. Actually scrap that - football's a funny game virtually all the time.
Ah, but you're not considering the influence my match threads have! 2 wins out of 2 and Ben Arfa gets injured! I think this could be the deciding factor!
In that case I hope your internet breaks and you have no other way of gaining internet access until after 9:45pm Wednesday night.
