On the pitch Saturday, without seeing red and near his best, Yes, I think he would have been a big help. But he's not the solution longer term.

I think we will have a man sent off, a penalty against us and we will lose by an odd goal. Because that's what always happens when we play them.

But look what 'always happens' when we play Swansea!! What goes around, comes around - eventually.

I think that will produce the exact opposite because none of the front 4 besides Park will track back.

NORWICH City Manager Chris Hughton is pleased to have defenders Javier Garrido and Sebastien Bassong providing added competition in the squad ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Queens Park Rangers at Carrow Road.

Bassong joined on a three-year-deal from Spurs this week, whilst Garrido arrived on a season-long loan from Serie A side Lazio before the Fulham game on Saturday, and is eligible to play after international clearance was received.

City are looking to bounce-back from a disappointing opening day defeat against the Cottagers, and a home clash in front of a vocal Yellow Army will provide plenty of motivation to do just that.

Hughton told Canaries Player: “We have to pick up morale, and that hasn’t been difficult here, because it’s a good group of players.

“We’ve added Sebastien [Bassong] and Javi [Garrido] to the squad, and what I was keen on with both of them was that although they are foreign players, they have both played in the Premier League.

“Javi has been away in Italy but has had that experience at Manchester City. That was important to me.

"They will certainly feature at some point, whether it’s at the weekend or not, that’s a decision I will have to make.

“I was clear about some areas that I wanted competition in the squad.

“It’s normal to have and it’s competition that we and the players want, because if you’ve got that competition, you’re striving to be as good as you can be.”

Mark Hughes’ Rangers will provide stern opposition for Hughton’s side, and will themselves be looking for a response after they crashed to a 5-0 home reverse to Swansea last week.

Hughton added: “They are a good side, and may even have new signings available at the weekend. They’ve a very strong squad and have brought in some quality players. But they, like us, are on the back of a poor defeat, so as we will, they will want to put things right at the weekend.

“Their intentions have been shown, as they were last season. They are a club that is prepared to bring in big players and they of course have aspirations to do well in the Barclays Premier League.

“Defeats like last week are always hard to take, but these are things that you have to bounce back from. They are setbacks you have to overcome, and the good thing is that we have an opportunity to do that.

“The challenges are always there. We accept that we are on the back of a poor performance and a big defeat, but I expect responses. There is plenty there for them to improve on. The mood has been good, training has been good and you expect responses.

“What you want is committed players, and that’s what I have got here. We’ve made additions to the squad that have settled in well, but we’re also very conscious that’ it’s only one game that has gone, and there’s a lot of football to be played.”
