Shout out for Marcondes, our third best rated player today behind Sainz and Long. The fact that no-one has mentioned him shows just how well he has slotted in. The stats show he had just two fewer touches than McLean, made more progessive passes than anyone else in yellow and green, and, along with Kellen Fisher, contributed the highest number of shot creating actions (SCAs being the two offensive actions leading to a shot).
Yes good timing but unlikely that he will be able to manage 90mins. Perhaps Fisher could be dropped into the midfield or Doyle?
I was going to say Marcondes performance has gone under the radar but he was quietly efficient. The app that I use rated him as our best performer, even above Sainz!
A completely unimportant question but who was captain after Kenny went off? He appeared to still have the armband when he left the field
I thought the penalty was far more clear cut when I watched live. In the highlights it appears to show the Boro player was looking for it. Also don’t think we will get that red card rescinded, it’s the speed of the challenge that does for him as I don’t think he makes much contact.
JHT has some options in Sørensen, Forson (who I thought did well after coming on) and Forsyth before switching defenders or dipping into the U21s. It doesn't help that we played two away games before Boro and now have two more away games. I can't ever remember that ever happening before.
Remember the old times, home, away, home, away etc. Life was so much simpler. Fixtures were allocated by human beings, not a computer. Progress, I don't think so
I believe he will start with Sorensen but unlikely he will be able to complete a full 90mins at this stage. I’m not sure Forson can play that deeper midfield role from what I’ve seen so far. Maybe Slimane could do it and play Forson or Schwartau alongside Marcondes
I think Slimane can play that role when Sørensen has to go off, with Marcondes and Forson supporting the attack as you say. Schwartau is a good option behind Sargent, but less so in CM.
Gave away the penalty, but otherwise he was very good. These points are usually way off what most supporters think
It was mainly conceding the penalty, but here's Samuel Seaman's rating comments: "It's hard to let Cordoba off the hook when such poor goals were conceded. Gave away the penalty that could have decided the game with some absent-minded defending, bringing Riley McGree down in an otherwise safe situation. Shielded away from the ball by the same man before that Azaz finish. But on the ball it was another good afternoon for the 23-year-old, whose incisive pass started the move for Borja Sainz's opener and whose composure was vital when Norwich were at their best." https://www.pinkun.com/sport/player...-3-middlesbrough-championship-player-ratings/
On the own goal, if the ball had not hit the keepers foot it was straight to Sarge who was furthest forward. Really a game for the neutrals to enjoy.
I think there were a few forwards passes that didn't find their destination, mostly due to good interceptions from Boro. And conceded the penalty
