Fo'fuxake don't go on the political thread if Docs comment has upset you, especially if you're a loony leftwing nutjob
Well, you certainly did nothing to enrich the Prem for 16yrs,and going into administration if my memory is correct. We do not throw £Millions at average players, but have always tried to balance the books, mostly by buying potential, and selling on at a profit. This is unfortunately reality and we have to live with it. Our catchment area is very small, so we will never attract 45-50k crowds, as other clubs do. We also do not have a wealthy foreign owner throwing £M's at the club. Our owners I am proud to say are genuine supporters, and take nothing out of the club. If that makes us, in your opinion, cheating the system, I will take that everyday, over being owned by a faceless foreign consortium.
Evening budgie, There was a time that you guys kept nicking all our best players. Howson, Becchio, Snodgrass and Bradley Johnson. What did we get from you? Adam Drury... It might as well have been Ian Drury. The only thing he did was convince Snodgrass to play for you. I forgot Steve Morrison......
Well done replying budgie I cannot disagree with your comebacj but what I will say is that your board are just like the Ashley board at Newcastle before the arabs. Yes the whole idea of fair football is each club has to stick within their means and revenues. Norwich do that and so did Newcastle and both clubs made a profit. And if every club did that using the same rules footy would be better and fair. However we saw a village club like Wigan stay in the Prem for a few years and only had 7k fans? And because of the riches in the prem Leeda and many more deserving clubs couldnt compete. Stoke City, Brighton, WBA, Swansea all used parachute payments to bounce and its the bouncing that should be called out for Cheating. Newcastle did it just like Norwich, Fulham will do it this season m Bournemouth will do it too. Its not fair because bang average clubs who are relegated can afford to keep their players and their high wages, sell a few and get promoted again without actually trying. Its cheating for me and yes you are doing it within present rules but clubs like ours was kept out of playing in that league because we didnt have parachute payments so we were down for 16 years irrespective of how we played we just couldnt compete until we got a manager who was able to improve players rather than buy big name players
Go back to the season Grayson got us from L1 to Championship and we were on course for doing back to back promotions but Bates refused Grayson cash at Xmas and we ended up 7th. Southampton came up with us and did do back to back and all because they had Swiss owners at ghe time who pumped cash in. Remember the season wolves went up and we didnt, they had massive Chinese investment. Remember the season Norwich went up and we didnt was because Norwich invested heavily that season and went up we failed again. Stoke City massive investment and I could go on but teams who went up were either on parachute payments or had owners who pumped cash in. The fact that for years Leeds was the only club promoted who didnt have parachute payments or massive investments in new players. Bielsa did it not cash and therefore we deserved it
You are obviously wanting to take anything I say the wrong way mate. No I explained that clubs who invested in the first place gambled and won and we didnt invest. THEN the rest and even some of those like Southampton, Brighton, WBA, Swansea, Norwich, Bournemouth Fulham, Stoke all planned on bouncing up and down and getting an unfair advantage. Then we see other clubs who used the parachute system and still milked it by cheating due to overspending even higher like Derby, Birmingham, QPR, Wendies, Boro, Villaand more. Try looking at the clubs in the Championship you will find 50% of ghe clubs have had parachute payments UNLIKE LEEDS if you think thats fair then great its your opinion
Doc I'm just trying to understand the logic. So if our worst nightmare happens and we are relegated at the end of the season but manage to keep most of our players to get promoted the following year, in your eyes we have cheated our way back to the prem and don't deserve to be there.
The difference is all those other clubs deliberately got relegated just to pocket the parachute money whereas Leeds don’t want relegation and so it wouldn’t count as cheating to use said parachute money to gain promotion again
Very Lucrative for the businessmen owning a yoyo club, the corrupt Oystons at Blackpool spring to mind, they pocketed the parachute payments to fund their other businesses, **** the true, loyal fans. I don't believe in parachute payments, getting rewarded for failure, **** that.
A level playing field would mean no parachute payments and those clubs would find it harder to keep their top stars and to bounce straight back up.
Not forgetting 3 Derby directors sent to jail for taking the parachute money after Derby got relegated after only winning 8 points all season
