Saw the last 20 minutes of so. we looked very average. Wellbeck did a filthy dive but the pen we got was justified. Gerrard out with a stupid tackle, anyone know of a club thats got a **** load of quality english midfielders to take his place? I'll give you a clue, it's not friggin swansea
International football is a boring irrelevance just have the leagues and European comps is enough don't need Euros and World cups boring boring give me cricket in the summer please not football
I'm very happy if NONE of our players get selected for international duty because then they won't get injured (I read that Van Persie got a knock last night for Holland). That's selfish, I know, because many players would be very proud to play for their country. And like many people on here, I don't have the slightest interest in international football. My team comes first.
It appears most of the England players on the pitch had no interest in International football either.
It was a typical "England" performance. This is why Wembley was not full or anywhere near full, people just don't have the stomach for it anymore. The national team has been lost for years, 7-10 years ago there was expectation and excitement but now the bubble has well and truly burst after so many dissapointments and performances like last night. The public just can't be bothered these days, there is not much optimism for the national side and this is reinforced everytime they take to the field.
It seems the players feel bias towards the top clubs exists too: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/norwich-jonny-howson-says-england-1323274
That's all well and good and I do agree with Howson and the rest of you that only the big clubs get players called up. But in reality are the likes of Howson, Pilkington etc. good enough? I'm certainly not slating them, they are good Premiership players you have but I think there are better in the Premier league although it's a very stupid situation that you can't make the team for your club but are a shoe in for the National side. Yes I'm talking about you James Milner!
Always a tricky one to answer and the only answer I typically revert to is - you never know until you give them a chance to show what they can or cannot do at that level. Some players will shine at their club, others don't but do after they move on to a new team. Working on that basis it is totally possible that an average or good player could be better by stepping up to the International scene
