I thought that last night OCF, and then I thought about how well Brady has done for us in his second position of LB. Redmond is going to have to up his act to keep his place for sure. What looked like a disappointing window at one stage isn't looking that way any more! I wonder if we might try to sign Jarvis on a permanent in January.
He's a very solid defender. My main issue is he will concede ground way to quickly (As he did for the one on one, but the tackle made up for it). He easily dealt with Lambert in the air though.
Agree with that Colk, but perhaps he needs a run of games to correct that. The tackle to prevent MacClean scoring was world class though.
I actually think Bennett is better than Martin at CB. hopefully he can get rotated into the squad a bit more this season.
"Introduced as a second-half sub, McClean was denied by a sublime last-gasp tackle by Canaries centre-back Ryan Elliott, just as the Irishman was set to pull the trigger." That's a new one for you! http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/west-brom-must-move-norwich-10124950
Nice spot. I see where Pulis is coming from in the second half a bit but Norwich dominated really. There was some sloppy defending at times but I wouldn't say Brom created anything other than the 1-on-1. We had some really good chance in the first half, just a shame they all fell to EBenno. You could see he'd been out for a while, lots of industry but a lack of end product. Snatched at his golden chance.
One 1-on-1 and a single shot on target. He's talking absolute rubbish. You could wheel those comments out in virtually every match you play when you get thrashed because even in a thrashing, unless it's maybe against Barcelona, you will have a chance or two. "Oh, if that one chance we had on 60 mins when 2-0 down had been converted then it could have been a different story". Well, yes, obviously. But you are not fooling anyone that it most likely would have been the same story, given how each team was playing.
I can't believe Liverpool got £4m out of the Baggies for Lambert this summer, he looks finished to me, we definitely dodged a bullet there. Very unlike Liverpool to mug somebody else off, it usually happens the other way round
In fairness Liverpool probably paid £15m for the Baggies former tea lady as part of the deal - would have been £20m but the medical found some varicose veins.
I was trying to find the article which said he was also an upgrade on Bradders as well - he most certainly is!!! From Wiki - "On 24 August 2012, Jarvis signed a five-year contract, with the option for an additional year," I read previously that someone thought he was out of contract next year. Gary O'Neil's praise - "He's very good, he's an out-and-out winger, he's an old-fashioned winger, he'll face the full-back up and test him all night long." Thanks for looking that up RobRoy. Even if he does have a year and a half on his contract plus an option, the chances are still good that we could sign him in January if he's not in Bilic's plans. At 30, he isn't going to cost as much as Brady for sure.
