Problem last season and the season after that is every player made mistakes and cost us silly goals every game. We still seem shaky at the back against a league 2 side, defensively something we haven't been good at for the past few seasons.
Ruddy Martin and Bassong have been terrible since Hughton's second season and beyond, 2 of those 3 have been axed that's the difference.
Yes but Martin made more than most and a lot of our problems were down to poor organisation. Now I know i'm old fashioned but when your experienced Captain is a CB I kind of think organising the defence may be something he should be focusing on. I await the use reply 'that captains don't matter in the modern game'.
Early days yet, but isn't it odd that Ruddy's has a good game at the weekend. Has he suddenly change or maybe he's no longer a nervous wreck playing behind a defence organised by Martin.
Personally I don't like him at CB, better at RB. But with Klose injured and Godfrey still young and inexperience (perhaps this game would have been ideal to give him more game time?) I still think he's the better option. All the back 4 needs to communicate more.
I think it's high time we accepted that there's simply no point in us even trying be good at defending
I'm working on Vrancic being the new target. Dyed hair has never been popular amongst us Norfolkians.
