On principle I agree with you about having those two ahead but as I say I'm worried that Archer isn't going to suit how Still wants to play. Hopefully I'm wrong as I think he's the best finisher at the club. If I'm right though then there is a rush to have Downes ready imo as we'll be pretty reliant on him and only an inevitable Stewart injury away from having to play him. Just feels to me that this was a good opportunity for him to get his first 90 minutes. You're right that we could waste 6 games to find out he's not up to it but equally we could end up having to play him at the busiest point of the season and he'll have hardly played. Let's hope Archer and Stewart is a front two rather than the former being wide anyway as on paper that's a decent partnership in the making.
I think Downes is trying too hard. He needs to be brought on at 2 or 3 nil (up), so the pressure is off.

Well if the warm up is anything to go by, our tactically astute, not out of his depth at all manager, is sticking with smashing crosses in and hoping for the best. Ross Stewart just broke into a small jog and looks totally knackered already.
