Badger Ales are Brewed at Hall and Woodhouse, Blandford Forum. The Fursty Ferret went down particularly well.
thought from your post they moved back in the 70's [ late 60's] used to be 3 pubs in Priddy all sold Badger until Butcombe started! used to be less than 3% for both! or Butcombe was 3% badger 2.8%.. on a weekend night time Friday Saturday you drink 10+ pints have a couple rolls and few packets crisps have change from £2 & get a barrel to take away for birthday celebration after pub on a Saturday night for about £12 -15......
We have a Hall & Woodhouse pub here in Swindon - it’s actually a really nice pub - a bit expensive but it’s got a premium canal side location which is particularly nice in the summer. A really novel feature is the canal boat sticking out of the wall. There are chairs and tables in there for more intimate dining….
Sometimes I walk the sons dog along the old railway path and canal and pop in there for a Guinness or two, before walking back. Expensive place for a session - and a bit far out of town (20 mins walk), but really pleasant for a couple. It’s also only about 5 minutes drive from my works office, so it’s good for a lunchtime beer. They light the woodburners in the winter time too which is really cozy. One of the more pleasant places Swindon has to offer. There are a few - but you need to know where they are
I worked with WH Smith and Smiths News in Swindon for a few years so I know a couple of areas of Swindon I always liked the Goddards Arms and the Thai restaurant down the hill on the left hand side and a rockers pub on the opposite side which was quite rough and ready, but very friendly
The music pub is the Victoria.and is one of my locals - it’s about 3 minutes walk from my house. We were in there last Saturday watching a band called Rorke’s Drift. It stays open until midnight week nights but longer at the weekend. It’s really handy to have on the doorstep but just far enough away so I don’t hear the noise if I want an early night!!!
