graham poll said the ref was at fault: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Mike-Jones-excuse-Leroy-Fer-goal-cop-out.html
The thing that annoys me the most is when a 'soft' foul is given anywhere on the picth apart from in the penalty area! Little pulls and tugs (ooer mrs) go unpunished in the Penalty box but anywhere else on the pitch and the ref is soon quick to blow up! The amount of shirt pulling at corners gets overlooked time and again!
not against us they don't!! i've lost count of how many penalties we've conceded where there has basically been no contact.
From what i remember, and i may be wrong but he puts 2 hands out in front of him moving from RVW towards the direction of Marshall, that to me is a clear sign to tell him to give the ball to Marshall to restart the game. You are quite right that he can't tell to throw the ball back, my interpretation as a player would be that the ref is restarting the game on the understanding the ball is returned to the goalie, and if it isn't the game isn't restarted. This is all not strictly by the rules granted, but has just been pointed out by yourself supers, the ref's this season are using more common sense which you yourself says is making them better. Although its not strict by the rules i thought the ref done ok in the incident.
Is that basically no contact, or no contact. I remember a certain centre forward who liked to go over with basically no contact and you said that was ok then!
Goal should have stood and both sets of players were right to be upset. This stinks of the guilty party feeling guilty and passing the buck.
All this reminds me of an incident at the 1978 World Cup when Clive Thomas (****er) blew his whistle for full time just as Brazil (I think) were taking a corner and Zico only bloody scored from it! Old Thomas shat himself when he signalled the end of the game and disallowed the goal! Clive Thomas was the biggest Bellend ever to referee professional football
he puts one hand out and waves play on - it was very clear. its even visible on the website i put up earlier. he also never blew his whistle to stop the game for tettey's injury as play had gone on and the player was back on his feet so there was no need to whistle to restart play. marshall threw the ball out to waste time. that is cheating. leroy fer didn't cheat but he did go against the 'fair play' etiquette we have in england. that is why your, and indeed my reaction would be to throw the ball back. he isn't forced to do so by the laws of the game so the goal should have stood.
The goal should have stood and I think the etiquete would have dictated that your boys would have allowed Cardiff to walk it into your net directly from the restart! But can you just imagine what would have happened if the Ref had decided to blow his whistle for full time just as they neared your penalty area!

he blew for full time almost immediately after the incident in fact, going from memory, he actually awarded cardiff a throw in after the goal. bizarre!
Indeed the correct decision but a one game as a 4th official is quite lenient, especially as his actions look like resulting in two clubs being handed a fine, when it was possible to reduce at least half the problems by allowing the goal to stand, as the Norwich players probably would not have got involved as they did, only the Cardiff players would have been up in arms.
This is all water under the bridge, as far as I'm concerned. I'm much more worried about Tettey's absence for 'several weeks'.
Guru might actually have a point but it is not possible to know for sure. Watch the clip and in particular RVW reaction when he throws the ball to Fer, he looks disgusted at what (presumably) the ref has said. Not that the referee can actually insist on the ball being thrown to the keeper, and he did still have the opportunity to blow the whistle, if he was not happy with the throw in, he could have passed it off as a foul throw perhaps? (JWM?) but didn't.
