I'm soon to be writing a piece for my website The Giant Killers on Norwich's 2-1 victory at Manchester United in 1967 when Graham Bolland's goal midway through the second half restored a lead they had first gained through Don Heath midway through the first half before Nobby Stiles cancelled it out a few minutes later. I'd be keen to hear from any Canaries who have annecdotes and memories of the game, whether you made the journey to old trafford or not.

I remember it being front page news on the Sunday morning with the City players enjoying a pinta afterwards. Also John Camkins commentary stands out describing Heath's goal. Camkin also went nuts when Denis Law (not Nobby Stiles) equalised for United.

Was at that match. Don't remember too much about it, other than as a naive teenager i had one of those rattle things, which a local sitting nearby said I should stop rattling unless I wanted a long uncomfortable ride home. <laugh>

    Still have the programme.

Impressed Gandy. That programme's nearly 50 years old. What's the oldest memorabilia that you still have?

    That's it I'm afraid. Like many people I'm sure, I've thrown away stuff I wish I hadn't!

That one was a memorable day, one that confirmed I was going to support this club for the rest of my life (it had been Celtic before <yikes>).

Despite the rollercoaster ride since, I've never regretted it. <ok>

...and 3 months later Celtic won the European Cup! Sure you've never regretted it? <laugh>

This was the game where I became a fully paid up Norwich City fan and have remained so ever since of course. It was an epic win and here we are nearly 50 years on and it still stands high in the shock league. There was no playing squad players in those times, we beat THE team at the time on their turf - outstanding!

I have quite a hoard Gandy, now where shall I begin? ..................

    • Programme from City's first match at Carrow Road v West Ham
    • Many post war programmes printed in black and white due to colour ink shortages.
    • Set of individual b & w photos of '59ers all personally signed.
    • Set of programmes for all of '59 Cup run.
    • Set of ticket stubs for same (I also have complete ticket for semi-final relay as Dad couldn't get time off work!)
    • Set of 'Pink Un' newspapers for '59 Cup run
    • 'Canary Crusade' booklet commemorating Cup run
    • 'Canary Crusade' booklet commemorating '72 promotion
    • Dozens of programmes from 1930s to date
    • Programmes and ticket stubs from all three of City's Wembley League Cup finals.
    • Flag bought outside Wembley in '85
    • Many programmes from matches between other teams rather than City dating from 1920s
    • Autograph book containing signatures of all players who featured in 1971-72 promotion
    • Scarf and wooden rattle which Dad took to all '59 Cup matches (excluding semi-final replay of course!)
    • ................. and this

An original 'Pilch's Canary' leather football given to me by my Dad circa 1972. This football has never been kicked in anger and has never even been taken outside, absolutely top mint condition <ok>

I've much more but we'd be here all day Gandy and I've a MDT to prepare for Saturday's big game <laugh>
