Not necessarily Ken, the football was excreable under Slade but we said at the time under him we would bore our way to mid table. Heady days, with hindsight...
Both managers were the best we could get at the time. Remember we were turned down by Steve Evans for Mansfield, and also Chris Wilder. Good managers won't come to Charlton.
Bit of an odd thing turned up on one of the Charlton blogs. There were a few tweets on saturday that the club were sending emails out to the relevant commentators asking them to explain the 'free coaches and breakfast' that the club had laid on in an effort to prevent the demo in belgium attracting support. The emails fell on deaf ears apart from the no mark Danny Mills who once again was happy to give the fans of the club that turned his career around another poke in the eye. However, one blog has also ponted out the strange case of Rick Everitt and the protests. There was some glee over on the other forum last week when it turned out he apparently wouldn't be going to Belgium, but instead would be at Sixfields. However, he was actually in Belgium, and it turns out his brother was the Everitt who wanted to see the team in Northampton. The blogger concerned is suggesting the club actually noted the ticket purchase, and told their friends in order to stir up a storm on the internet to discredit Everitt and the protests. Divulging that sort of info is a bit insensitive, but obviously the club and the comms team are deep in the mire and maybe consider that anything goes now. If this turns out to be true however, I hope that there are some consequences, as launching a potential smear campaign against a prominent protester is an absolute decleration of divorce between the club and the large segment of the fans who resent the dire way it is being run. http://drinkingduringthegame.blogspot.com.es/2017/03/northampton-town-2-v-charlton-athletic.html
Sometimes people just can't help show the depths they will happily plumb. I'd like to pin this on Katrien, but it just sounds like the general bunker policy currently at the club.
It just goes to show they arent focusing on the job at hand, and by not doing so they are showing they haven't changed.
Saw Billy on BBC London last night (coverage of Belgium protest) holding his banner and flag.... good work
The SMT are an absolute shambles. When we get new owners we should get rid en Masse. The bitch Meire is a pernicious horrible woman, don't be deceived by her fake smile. It will be great to see her go. The worst CEO in the Clubs history. Charlton need a thorough spring clean from top to the players. We need to start again.
