I dont think Jones was ever a real football hardman. Reckless and stupid yes. But could he really put it about properly I am not so sure. Tackles like that are easy to make and dont take a hard man. Keane was another who was never a hard man.

Now take a Billy Whitehurst or Big Mick, they are hard men of football. Mick is a hell of a lovely fella mind. Others that would make Jones look soppy were Regis, Bryan Robson, Steve McMahon, Souness off the top of my head. Mark Hughes another absolute beast who would go in anywhere. Also our Kevin Ball would have smashed him silly. I never really felt Jones wanted the front on stuff that others were ok with. Game has moved on a bit hasnt it.

Chris Kavanagh is the VAR ref and he's just checked a pen shout on 1 replay within 10 seconds and on we go with the game. Must be just the the PL where they need 50 replays and about 6mins to check things.
