His first ever managerial season was with Barcelona’s B team and I’m sure he won the league they were competing in which was the Tercera or equivalent to the Conference here. The comparisons to Clough are stupid. Totally different era and something that’s unachievable in modern football because the game has evolved so much. It’s like when Celtic won the european cup with a load of Scottish players, if you actually look at the 4 teams they beat you’ll realise how good their chances were considering how often they qualified, most teams had the same style of play that’s deemed awful now and probably equivalent of modern day Sunday league so anything was possible.
I agree, so would I, but you won’t, I have saw what Clough done so I believe he’s proven himself way beyond Pep, imo.
When was the last time you saw a Swedish team in the champions league final after winning 3 knock out games against teams from the likes of Poland and Ukraine? That’s the difference.. You’re talking about football nearly 50 years ago.
As Rooch said, Guardiola would never go to a club that can't help him to buy trophies It just goes to show the arbitrary nature of the success of clubs like Chelsea and City . . . . both absolutely nowhere in terms of challenging until the money to buy trophies via a massively unfair advantage came in
When the mags win every trophy going I wonder if these pep fans will be licking Eddies arse saying he’s the best manager in the world or he’s just bought the trophies. Can’t wait to find out.
When was the last time you saw a Swedish team with a hundred billion to spend, I guess you’d see one then.
You’ve basically proven my point without even realising but whatever - if that’s the case why haven’t United won it recently? They’ve spent more than anyone no? Villa, Wolves, West Ham, Arsenal all have a higher net spend than City over the last 5 years where’s their CL?
Maybe City have a better manager. had you thought of that? Maybe if he was manager of one of those clubs they would have won everything and not City so he would have bought success with that club instead. There is only so many trophies you know.
So he’s not a good manager but it’s down to him that they’ve won so much? What do you want him to do? Win the champions league with Wycombe? If Pep had gone to United instead of City back in 2016 they would’ve been the dominant team in England now. When he leaves City the league will be competitive.
You’re just talking out of your arse because you think someone beating teams like Osters IF and Dynamo Berlin when you were in nappies is the greatest achievement in football
Well that proves my point as the team City just beat didn’t even make it to the final so how bad are they
For me the best managers are the ones who can win things on a level playing field, or as underdogs. As good as City have been under Guardiola they've not won a single trophy that they've not been favourites for, and none of their achievements are as impressive as Aberdeen's Cup Winners Cup under Fergie or Clough's achievements at Derby & 'Forest. The most impressive thing about Pep is the consistency that 'City show, and they have done brilliantly winning the Champions League, but they probably have the biggest and best squad in the world thanks to money, and flouting the FFP rules . . . . a clearly unfair advantage
You never know these trophies may be taken off them yet, then his cabinet won’t look so good. We can only hope.
I still find it funny that Newcastle won their last cup by beating a team whose name none of their supporters can spell
