I think he's a very good manager, be pleased to have him here. The trouble is he has no record of success so hell struggle with top class players ... ... gaining their respect won't be easy.
To be manager of Brighton, or any PL club, you'd have to have confidence in yourself ... ... so, of course you'd believe you could take on a bigger club. I don't think he did it for 'Allardyce' motives tbh.
Agree, like you, I like him, noticed him when we were playing agahis Swansea. My x boss a Swansea SC had a mixed opinion of him, but was sad to see him move on up to Brighton
I didn't watch the game tonight. Happy to post about matches on this thread though from now on so that whopper can go on ignore.
Much like Neil and Mowbray here, Potter benefitted from being at a very well ran Brighton. Not to say he isn't a good manager. Or any lesser than his predecessors at Chelsea.
In my opinion, the tv companies do such a bad job selecting FA Cup games for TV, we’ll see this game twice on sky/bt this season I don’t need to watch it a third time, especially considering it’ll be two B teams. For me the FA Cup is about the fairytale stories and the shocks, not this.
Couldn’t agree more. The TV selections for the 3rd round this year are an absolute disgrace, but predictable.
I agree, but from their perspective, they'll get more viewers for Man Utd v Everton which is what it's all about. Middlesbrough v Brighton is a much better fixture this weekend, but again you could argue that's too high profile which leaves you with something like Villa v Stevenage. It sounds like a romantic cup tie but in reality you have Villa fringe players having 70% possession and winning 3-0.
Yeah I agree and understand why they do it, it’s just boring. There’s barely any ‘magic’ in the cup anymore and it’s sad
Non league and lower league clubs used to just go all out attack to try to win the game which was fantastic entertainment ... ... these days they're well organised, defend in depth and 'keep their shape'. They've killed their own golden goose and short change their own supporters who's 'magic of the FA Cup' has become a ten man defence and a gruelling 90 minutes of 'keeping the score respectable'.
