It's a tricky one this I think. They ****ed it up blowing the whistle for offside (linesman wouldn't have even put his flag up most of the time). But it was clearly blown and Coutinho took the shot knowing the whistle had gone and some of the players stopped playing. The ref ****ed up but it's not certain that Villa score in my opinion.

That was my take on it, although I think the shot was always coming.

    Just a mess really

Depends on the teams playing, they will go to the far end of a fart to protect the big boys. It's corrupt to **** and it's blatantly obvious. Needs to be binned asap and just let the ref on the pitch do the **** ups. Much simpler.

I timed the Vila time wasting. 2 minutes 26 seconds they wasted after the board went up. Ref blows the whistle at 94:24! Ball wasn’t even in play until 91:02 due to sub and their keeper taking 25 seconds to take a kick.

Annoys the hell out of me

I prefer the old way where you got some decisions and some you didn't then you either moaned or cheered depending on the outcome. It wasn't terrible as you eventually realised its humans making split second decisions.

With this mess, VAR dominates everything and no one has a clue how to deal with it or make it work

The game has completely gone mind when a club like Aston Villa celebrate a draw at home to Man City like they've won a trophy. It's not even close to being a competition over a season.

Apparently if we ever get back there we should be gracious to see quality players and accept our place as cannon fodder

Totally agree with this by the way, but it wasn't referees pushing for VAR - it was managers, pundits, players and fans moaning about every decision, focusing on a single human error by the ref in a game rather than the 90 minutes and 22 players on the pitch. "Be careful what you wish for" has never been more apt.

It's ****ing ****e. Lost count how many times they said 'come back to me' during the BT score show today, honestly its was every 5 mins across the PL games. Nobody knows when to cheer or not, its sucked the life out of the game imo. Football shouldn't be sanitised to this extent.

They should have stopped at goal line technology.

The rest should have been left alone

Yes. Because that is binary, its over the line or not. All the rest is subjective and therefore prone to human emotion. Let the ref crack on and let fans sing you're not fit to referee, maybe that will help them longer term. Worst its ever been now imo.

You know for certain that the Van Dyck challenge today is a red card if it’s Anthony Gordon on Van Dyck. The ref will be asked to go to the monitor and check and will send him off. To not even be sent to the monitor, then hear Peter Walton make an excuse for it (which you can guarantee he’d have said “I think the ref has made a mistake there” if it was the other way around too.)

Starting to think it’s been brought it to dramatise the league and get more ‘clicks’ and ‘views’ it’s really killing the game, the one thing I liked about league one was it was football in its purest form, the officials weren’t great but it gives you a talking point in the pub after which is part of the day for me

It's absolutely embarrassing how biased it is mate, cant believe they get away with it tbh. I really hope VAR doesn't come down to the championship. That Walton on BT is horrific, hasn't got a clue. But then again, not many of them do and that's going back down to L1 level. I've got the cricket on now tbh just to chill out a bit. <laugh><cheers>
