Cleverley is one of those players you can see playing Championship or lower league in a few seasons time. His inefficiencies are masked by the fact he does play for Man U. Take him out of that team and he looks really quite ordinary.
I'm guessing that living in Oz you didn't get to see that much of him last year when he was the best player in the championship when fit (opinion of Ross McCormack as well)? He is the only player we have that gets the ball between lines and turns to run at defenders. That is what defenders hate more than anything as it gets them running towards their own goal. At the start of this season he fit into the prem perfectly and it has only been fitness which had held him back.
Whereas I respect your opinion and those of Wilson and Cheshireles I cannot agree. I also respect the efforts by both Aluko and Brady both prior to their injuries and after but imo neither are capable at this level. I would lay odds that no Premier League Club would come in for either of these players should they be made available. Both these players excelled in the Championship but have done little or nothing in the EPL. Aluko scored a magnificent goal against Newcastle but has shown many times since that he prefers to be a glory hunter rather than a team player (again, just my opinion). Brady is a very good player but falls short at this level. We need players a little better than these if we are to be competitive in the mid-third of the table and I believe that is what Steve Bruce is trying to achieve. Long and Jelly work their socks off for each other and could be a formidable partnership next season and have been good investments. When Elmo knows he has the measure of his opponent he plays a blinder and has won favourable comments from commentators as one of the best crossers of the ball in the EPL but Managers have woke up and are double-marking him and negating his impact. Brady and Aluko have both been easily held. I understand that both have at least another year on their contracts so I hope they prove me wrong next season and lift their game. Anyone wearing a Hull City shirt will get my support but there is no sentiment in the game especially at this level.
Tiger roo, you are aware Brady was tearing defences up in the very short time he played at this level before getting injured? From what we've seen, he's certainly looked more than capable at this level, there's certainly been nothing to suggest otherwise.
I really don't understand that opinion. He was our best player in most of the games he played pre-injury
Beginning of the season he won a couple of MOM awards and was generally regarded by most fans as someone who could genuinely step up to the plate in The Prem and was one of our best players. That said it was only over half a dozen games so would accept that half a dozen games doesn't prove he is Prem quality or not. By my reckoning however he will become a firm fixture in the starting 11 next season proving his ability and contribution
While I rate Aluko highly, I can understand people having doubts about him based on his efforts since he returned. However, doubting Brady's quality seems bizarre. Once he's fully fit again he's straight in the team, one of the first names on the sheet.
It is noticeable that the negative stance in both cases comes from our friends down under, whereas those of us who have seen them at close quarters agree that they are both capable at Prem level, although Aluko has been massively out of form since he came back!
Brady singlehanded won us a few games in the short time he was fit. A very versatile and effective player who shouldn't be dismissed.
Sorry John but I can't get anything out of your <<This>> symbol. I have gone back over my tapes and I cannot find where Brady was "tearing defences up...". What I like about him was his calmness under pressure especially when taking penalties but I can't find anything exceptional about him at this level. He was very effective in the Championship (as was Aluko) but I cannot see other PL Clubs coming in for either of them. Some posters are smugly suggesting that being 'down under' we cannot judge a player because we can't see them 'live' but I have not seen Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Ribery or Rooney 'live' but I can tell that they are exceptionally gifted players by their sheer talent. I haven't seen anything remotely exceptional in Brady and Aluko but of course it is a matter of opinion and we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Although I will be cheering Hull City on from my bed at gone midnight here in Oz I would give anything to actually be there. What an achievement for a Club that was almost gone!
Nobody is suggesting Brady or Aluko are in the exceptional bracket of player like Messi or Ronaldo. Before Brady became injured, he wasn't 'tearing defences up'. He was however a very calm and influential player who's play often resulted in a positive outcome i.e the right pass/dribble/finish etc. One of the major differences between average and premiership players is good decision making, which Brady seems to have
Before his injury, he scored three goals in six Premier League games, that's quite a contribution, particularly as two of them won us the games.

I can't believe people think Brady and aluko are not prem standard in my eyes both are at least on par with elmo if not better
Far, far better. Elmo is one of the most predictable players I've ever seen. He's consistent but has nothing like the ability of Brady or Aluko. I genuinely can't believe people are questioning those two as players not good enough for us.
Jack Colback now linked with us, could be a back up plan if we can't get Livermore. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...le-for-sunderlands-jack-colback-is-hotting-up
